With the COVID-19 pandemic at large most if not all stores are taking strict precautions when customers are shopping in their stores. Not this store. They deceive you by outwardly showing lines outside the stores making people stand 5-6 feet apart and then offer you gloves to shop, which isn’t even needed because gloves can and will cause cross contamination. Once I went inside it was a fish market. It was ridiculously crowded!!! There was no room to walk without bumping into people. I am not joking or exaggerating when I say that. My heart sank. I didn’t even know how the heck I would get out. People were wearing masks just chilling, laughing and talking instead of quietly shopping, getting what they need and then exiting. I didn’t even take my phone in....although I wish I had so I could share the chaos. There was no implementation of the 6 feet rule even though they had visible floor signs. Customers were ignoring them but employees around weren’t saying anything either. I had numerous carts bump into me and had to yell at them to move back. #NoSocialDistancing #PatelBrothers #TomDailly I would like to add that when I posted my review on FB they removed it immediately. I related and it was removed again. That should tell you a lot. It’s really bad in there, someone needs to go in and see for themselves and make a video and post it....
Read moreExtremely rude lady behind the snack counter I stopped by at 9:40 am to grab some snacks. This was my first time ever at Patels as I was new to the area. I had my elderly parents with me and we wanted to grab some snacks (sabudana vada) from their glass covered counter. There was a non-English speaking person behind the counter who was of NO help. We somehow managed to communicate that we need help with snacks. He went inside and called for some lady. She came and ignored us.Completely past by us and started doing her random chores. I waited thinking she must be finishing something and attend us in a minute. After few minutes I waved at her and asked for help. She was so rude that she yelled at us from where she was standing to come back at 10am. " Come at 10" pointing finger at the wall clock. I felt so ashamed and embarrassed in front of my dad as I was not expecting such attitude from them. IF you cant train your employees on how to talk to customers , for God sake take a print out and stick a note saying " This counter opens at 10am" (common sense duh?!) I just walked out of the store and promised myself to NEVER COME BACK. PATEL grocery store, you and your customer service sucks! Politeness is key to customer service, specially in America. Indians should learn that as first lesson before they...
Read morePatel Brothers Grocers has been here for a while. We've never been in the area when we needed groceries, and this time we did need a few things. We found the location to be well stocked, clean, and very interesting.
Yes, this is primarily an Indian grocer. As such, I have to admit there was a lot that I was not familiar with. And, with some writing in Hindi, it wasn't always easy to know what we were looking at. Even in English, I learned that I knew less about Indian foods than I thought.
The produce was really nice. Some very unusual items (at least from an American cuisine standpoint). Everything looked fresh and clean. We picked up a few items, the only "unusual" item was Star Fruit, which I have not had in quite a while.
In the back is an area where they have homemade foods, a few of which we tried and they were delicious. We picked up from frozen foods, some spices which we don't see at (for example) Jewel, and other items we wanted to try.
Pricing is a little higher than Jewel or Mariano's, but not too far off. We plan to go back with friends who know more about these foods than us to learn more next...
