Well. I don't usually do reviews, but here it goes. So I picked up a membership at LA Fitness in Scottsdale, it's close to my home (ish) and has a pool. Sweet, all good things. I generally prefer to run on trails and such, but that's not possible during a Phoenix summer. A few days after getting the membership, I receive a text from Damion, the fitness instructor there asking when I could come in for a personalized workout plan. I ask him if in the morning would work, (I get up at 330am to begin exercising) and he ask if noon would be okay. I agreed, and thought, awesome! I pretty much know what I'm doing, but I always appreciate a tour and introduction to rules, etc. It makes going in that first time not so awkward, and prevents avoidable mishaps. However, I had no plan on working out (I had already done so for the day) and I was there just to check it out. I had already paid 160 or so for the first and last with annual fee, so I figured i should use it. I arrive early by about 10 mins, no biggie, and let the girl at the front know that I had an appointment with Damion at noon. She said he was just finishing up his set and he would be right up for me. No worries! I'm early, so I just hung out. However, once noon hit, with no acknowledgement or anything from the staff, I decided I would go and take a look around myself. So I ask the girl at the front where the locker rooms were, and mentioned I would go check them out myself since it was noon and Damion wasn't up there. Still finishing his sets, I suppose. Did I mention I also received 3 alerts reminding me of this appointment at noon from them? I went, checked out the lockers rooms, wandered, then went up front to see if he was up there. Nope. And, when I was asking about the pool hours, she was pointedly ignored me, turned to her computer screen, and started clicking away. Thanks for wasting my time. If you weren't the only viable option that's close by on my biking route, I would find somewhere else. I was there at the time that you specified worked for you, it did not work for me. You couldn't even give me the courtesy of being on...

From the moment we walked into the gym, we could tell that the manager had a āEgoā problem.
For me it was not the fact of the issue in which was presented in front of us. ( I have a membership in which I have cooperate contract through my business for ) and my assumption is that they must have made an error on their end when adjusting my ( Main account holder ) membership to have guest privileges as well.
But prior to that afternoon, i had no issue. Employers and managers would look at my membership, see where the error occurred and they would explain and allow me to bring in my guests. I pay a pretty hefty penny for the membership as well as a large lump sum up front.
But this manager this day, in my opinion saw 5 black thugs through his eyes.
As we approached, he rushed to the front and before i could even explain the situation he stated āthat will be $20 per person for a guest passā which is completely fine. But itās the fact that he cut me off prior to finishing my sentence.
Then proceeded to tell me about his 15 year resume with the company. Which is not important, i have many clients of mines whoās parents are; Drās , Lawyers, accountants, financial advisors , real-estate agents, high end law enforcement.
So the āIāve been a manager for 15 years speech was pointlessā
As a customer, i felt as if this manager believed that he was āAboveā us all.
My friends and I were willing to pay the $20 a person no problem, but due to the lack of professionalism. We decided to take our money over to another local gym in which they actually gave us a great deal ( $40 for the 5 of us ) since we were from out of town and were just using the gym for a day for 1 hour.
Iām not a big review person but i felt as if this managers delivery was very...

Worst gym i've ever been too. You can't work out as its way to packed. Its also not managed or looked after. Weights, dumbells, mats empty bottles, pretty much anything to can throw on the ground is thrown on the ground. The customer base is the type you hate. Using 5 things at once for 30mins, attention seekers and just the type that think going to the gym lifts there social status... CREATING A HUGE MESS and leaving it, spitting nasty crap into the fountains... I can go on and on.. (someone was washing their bloody fingers in the fountain tonight).... The gym has no rules on signs posted so the mouthbreather types just do whatever they please.
Worst part is that its packed the whole time (except 4am-9am)so you can't ever go in there with a workout plan.. You have to change it and completely ruin your routine...not good if your SERIOUS about working out.
The commissioned staff just keep cranking out new members and pack us in like sardines and not purchase extra equipment. At times everything in the gym is being used except that awkward machine no one wants to use.
The staff aren't friendly (as you would expect at most gyms)... the self absorbed types that are too into themselves to look up from facebook on their phones to say "hi". They are so useless that they can't even write a bullshit comment under the 5star rating that they are posting on here to bring up there rating.
Theres a couple really good looking brunette girls there that say hi with a smile so I can't say everyone is bad. I feel bad for them as they can do better.
Save your time and money...trust me. If your planning your NY's resolutions don't start here. You'll fail...
