I would have been an online student here. Worst college I have ever tried to attend. All of my buddies were given way more support from their advisors. Mine only reached out once. For the first set of classes I was scheduled to attend, it requested my parents W-2s due to my age. However my parents are retired/self employed. When I submitted their 1094 it would not accept this. As a result I would have been offered any financial aid to attend on a year where I only made 3k of taxable money and was not living or supported by my parents at all. Even still, I submitted a request to have my tuition explained as the amount I was being charged was over a grand more than advertised online and somehow that ticket was ignored for over a week. With that help desk ticket I requested, my tuition be explained, the deadline to withdraw with no fees, and simply asked by other students (friends of mine) have received more assistance with enrolling and other. They did not respond. I am very displeased with their timeliness. In addition, when I was in college previously, I made it into my sophomore year. They wanted me to take English 101 and another first year class because my previous university allowed me to test out and move past it. It seems like all they care about at this institution is how much revenue you can bring in for them. I would not recommend this university to anyone.
My partner is in the same situation as I am and he was given a free Military orientation course that I was not. Not only was I not given the same opportunities, but they wanted me to retake courses that made no sense at this point in my education. They were extremely unhelpful during this entire process. Due to their silence and lack of urgency I have dis-enrolled as I believe they would not have responded to my requests until after the deadline to withdraw with a full refund...
Read moreI should have gone with UofA...ASU is the Worst College I have attended; Professors are slow, rude and completely unprofessional. They expect you to remain 'professional,' as long as it benefits them, but forget the fact that as the student, you are the one investing your time, and your money into them! Majority of my professors have never emailed back after several attempts at contacting them; I have had 2 professors get so 'forgetful' towards the end they didn't even take the time to grade a few of the last assignments...which affects MY grade, that I just wasted both my time and money on participating in the course. I feel the financial aid office is on a script regarding questions or concerns as each time you call you get the same exact ineffective and unclear answers. The advisors are a waste of time; you wait days sometimes a week or more to get in for an appointment that lasts '30 mins' to help "guide" you successfully through classes, however, following every single appointment I have left feeling more confused, irritated or even incompetent. Regardless of my question asked it is ignored and responded with, " you have 'x' amount of classes left, take them at blank level" OK, so do you have specific classes that you would recommend that would benefit the path of my degree? with a response of : "its a matter of interest, you can search for classes on the asu website class search page." Doing this route has resulted in me taking classes for nothing--they don't benefit my degree. I feel shameful that I chose to go to ASU, pay for tuition out of pocket and go into debt with loans to cover extra costs...while I am able to obtain my degree, the personal costs that it took to leave ASU with a degree were...
Read moreTerrible experience. Missed the deadline to register for classes because of an incorrect hold on my account (multiple ASU staff members have acknowledged that the hold should have been removed weeks ago but refuse to do anything in order to actually remove it.) Only a specific branch of the financial aid office can handle the request, and they keep different hours than the general financial aid staff. Both of these departments keep THE SAME phone queue, which you have to wait multiple days in for a call back. Three times now I received a call back during a time of day in which the office I need wasn't open, meaning the agent couldn't help me and I had to get back in line and wait for multiple days again.
I'm unable to register for classes because I'm stuck in a Kafkaesque nightmare of incompetence and bureaucracy. This school is immensely incompetent and unwilling to help its students. I wouldn't even consider going here if I wasn't getting free tuition...
