I live closest to this location. However this Store is my least favorite Goodwill. The Cashier's are not friendly slow to check you out. I am an avid Goodwill Shopper and I love the Mesa one off Mckellips and the one in Scottsdale at Indian Bend and the Goodwill in Tempe located off Scottsdale Road. I was recently at Oak Goodwill in Scottsdale and wanted a Programmable Crock Pot. Found one but did not heat up. I asked manager if i can just buy the bowl and lid. Or get discount. He said no. So why was that on the shelf to buy? It was $19 plus. All the Goodwills I have shopped at always Discount product if damaged but not this store. So after Manager said no why would he not take the time to remove it from the shelf ? This has happened to me too many times at this Goodwill. Also prices seem to be higher. Staff seems to change more often than other Goodwills too. Including Managers.
I hesitate going to that store. In fact I think that was my last visit there. When there are other Goodwills that have a friendly staff and will discount damaged products or not sell higher price items that don't work. Also I rarely find anything at this Goodwill that is a good find or deal. My favorite ones are Mesa, Indian Bend, & Tempe even one in North Scottsdale is a nice one . This Goodwill on Oak in Scottsdale lost a faithful Goodwill Shopper. Shopping for me is about relaxing getting out and finding treasures (not damaged) and good buys. I don't find that at...
Read moreToday was not a good day for this goodwill. They had a fender guitar for sale at 69$. Great price and what I find. I ask to pay for it, and the women said her register was down. She was taking me to a new register when someone skipped me and said he would pay the 69$ for the guitar. He skipped me to try to purchase what I found. He then went on a rant saying he was gonna but it first but he wanted to see if they would lower the price. The goodwill employees were 50/50 on who should get it. I was gonna pay for it, so shouldn’t I get it correct? Wrong manager came out and said that the guy who skipped should get it. So I’d do what anyone else would do. I rebutted and they threatened to call the police. That’s right the police cause they let someone skip me in line. What are the police gonna do? Arrest me for trying to buy a product. Management is silly here and the GM should look into having a conversation with the manager with a rose tattoo on her arm. They let the other guy buy the guitar, I walked out empty and humiliated because I tried to buy what apparently I can’t buy. Hope someone reads this and gets back because...
Read moreGoodwill is a not for profit charity that pays no taxes, all its inventory is donated, and they pay employees the lowest wages in the retail sector with no benefits.
Goodwill had gross revenue of 6.1....BILLION in 2018 and we can only assume by the sheer number of grocery sized storefronts packed to the rafters with inventory opened in the last few years, this number has increased substantially. Business is a-boomin folks.
So where's the money?
If not spent paying taxes, or buying inventory, or paying it's employees top notch wages and providing health insurance...where is it?
Do you ever see Goodwill passing out food for the homeless or building shelters? NO.
Do they sponsor anything or anyone? I've never seen their name attached to one event.
Do they arrive on scene with clothes for needy families and kids after disasters? Never seen them once.
How about providing actual GOODWILL to anyone in need? Nope, they are too busy raising prices on used underwear.
Someone is going to pop the top on these guys and a lot of people are going to prison,...
