Sharing our EXPERIENCE at the skysong location goes like this: 👎👎👎👎👎 For carry out or using website ordering or calling in
In light of the pandemic, it seems pretty important that your online ordering system is working properly.
Their website is very difficult to use, so much so that we gave up and called in instead. When we arrived 45 minutes later, the gentleman at the counter (same one that took our order) could not find our order and had to reinput it (he asked us to repeat our order as he punched it into his POS). He told us next time we should use their online ordering, even though we explained to him the troubles we had. 15 more minutes of waiting, total on our experience to 1 hour. First time, shame on us.
We reached out to them and they explained their process, even agreeing that the setup is not the best. So this time around we followed their steps and put the order via their website.45 minutes later we arrived, same gentleman at the counter, same outcome. He said he never got our order, even after I showed the receipt and gave him the order number. He pulled in a woman who then told us to call in next time, that their online ordering doesn't work there. WAIT A MINUTE, that's the opposite advise they gave out previous visit. Another 15 minute wait, totalling 1hr again. No real advice for the next time (which there will be none).
Moral of the story, if you're in a rush or you calling ahead or place out order online, don't expect it to be waiting for you. That experience and the anxiety of wondering if they disregarded your order is something we cannot tolerate. Every order is important, every customer...
Read more3.5 stars. I really wanted to give this place more based on service and the nice patio it has outside, but ultimately, the food is pretty disappointing. I ordered a hot chai, the blintzes, and shared with my dining companions to try the humble hash.
The chai was... bad. Just, bad. Kind of bitter, with almost a fermented flavor behind it?? It had oat milk, so couldn't have been the dairy. But this makes one of the all-time worst chais I've ever had. Could not force myself to finish. Everyone at the table was confused by the flavor.
The blintzes were okay to good. Just simple and I guess that's okay. They're a pretty simple food. I was a little disappointed that, for a place that boasts making their cream cheese in house, the blueberry topping was just scooped out of a can of pie filling and presented cold (not room temp; cold). I mean... warm it up a little at least?
The humble hash was also okay to good. It's weird to have corned beef not have much flavor aside from salt. But it was technically hash. The latkes were soft and almost bread like. Can't really fault that either, but it also felt kind of bland. The star on that plate? The home fries! They're tossed heavily in a seasoning (like seasoned French fries) and they're nice and crisp. Lovely! But it really shouldn't have been the star. The eggs Benedict were overcooked. One to the point of being, well, a boiled egg.
Again, the staff were all nice and helpful. But breakfast for three ran $25/pp with lattes. The food is just not good enough to command those...
Read moreI've been lucky enough two times in a row to be served by Kale, who has been far above standard in his service. Kale not only provides his honest and clear tips on my order, from warning me about needing more cream cheese to pointing me toward the best bagels in the house. The service is outstanding thanks to Kale, and I look forward to seeing him perform educated guesses about my order next time — great memory, Kale!
As for the food, I'm floored by the diversity of the menu, but as of now, I've only ventured into two bagel types: The Asiago and the Everything. For those of you who love bagels, you'll be pleased to know that NYBB seasons their everything bagel on BOTH SIDES, a discovery that made me all the more exciting to find such a place. But both bagels, in their own right, are delicious, and both pair magnificently with the cool, rich flavor of their lox spread. If you get the salmon cream cheese, prepare for a slight smokiness that does the bagel justice.
Finally, I've enjoyed two lattes here. One was the hazelnut latte, iced, with almond milk, and it was delicious. The second latte was toffee flavored, again with almond milk. The sweetness was a bit higher than I anticipated, but the flavor is good, and the espresso never shows sign of distress. I'm coming back for more again and again, thanks to the quality of the food and the quality of the service.
And seriously, Kale is my new favorite server. Y'all come show...
