Read moreNothing great, just dunes. If you are planning a visit, check your local weather. I've lived on the other side of the dunes, very close to the beach, for a few months. (March-june 2018) it rarely gets above 70 degrees. Locals say it gets warmer by July or August. I've lived most of my life in So cal, or Hawaii ( Warm days, warm water) most of my life, so this is not my happiness. If you like overcast days, cold water, empty beaches, and sense of seclusion ( the dunes separate the beaches from the businesses and housing) this beach fits the bill. I have heard that there is some great fishing off the beach here, but I have never tried it myself. Sunsets are especially beautiful, but if you decide to stay until the sun goes down, don't forget your jacket. It's 55' at sunset...

You can relax on the sand, clamber along the rocks to inspect the tide pools or even take in the view from the comfort of your car. I recommend visiting at low tide because there are so many interesting animals to see in the tide pools. If you have children they will be delighted to see tiny hermit crabs, sea snails, crabs, anenomes and even the occasional starfish! I recommend bringing your camera and comfortable shoes. There are no restrooms to remember to make a pit stop before heading to the beach.
