The East Portal Viewpoint offers a unique perspective of the I-90 floating bridge, especially as traffic enters and exits the Seattle-side tunnels. It’s a fantastic spot for capturing photos of the bridge. During SeaFair in the summer, it could be an excellent place to watch the Blue Angels airshow, provided you arrive early and don’t mind standing. However, it’s worth noting that this viewpoint is a small area along the walkway that extends from Seattle to Mercer Island. The actual view point is up the hill on Lake Washington Blvd. It's wide open and there are signs to read from.
The viewpoint in front of the tunnel is great too. Because of the trees, the view there isn't wide open, but you can definitely see the floating bridge, Mercer Island and Bellevue. There is a tunnel behind the view point and on the other side it's Seattle streets. These multi-use trails...

The area serves primarily as access to the Mountain to Sound trail with links to other trails in the area. It has limited parking, on street and is really a community park area, not a trailhead.
