This review is specifically for Betelehem I (Beth), the Member Service manager at the Aurora location. The review below explains how this woman decided to intimidate me, harass me, and make me uncomfortable about an outside issue she has no part in.
On Saturday September 28th at 1:10PM, I called the gym looking for my cardholder that I misplaced. I was trying to retrace my steps and wanted to check the gym just in case. I told Beth my information & the description of my wallet.
At first, she was kind and sounded like she was trying to help me. Right before I was going to hang up the phone, she brought up another person/employee that works at the LA Ballard location. It was at this moment, that I knew she knew who I was and was not trying to help me.
Beth told me that she has been receiving, "information from CORPORATE" to reach out to me about how I have, "made several calls to the gym" to inquire about the employee that works at the Ballard location. She wanted to know, "what I wanted from this person" and she smugly asked if she, "could help me in any way." THIS IS A BLATANT LIE FOUNDED ON PETTINESS. I have never called ANY gym in the Seattle area to ask questions about this individual, nor do I want any outside "drama" to affect her job. I do not care that she works for LA Fitness. I did not need any issue resolved. I know why Beth was asking me these questions & she clearly got a kick out of talking to me when she figured out who I was.
I was extremely confused why Beth decided to mention this employee to me. I simply called asking about my wallet and it turned into me being falsely accused, harassed, and questioned for ABSOLUTELY NO REASON. Shortly after, at 1:23PM, I called the location back with a witness/friend so she could also hear these false accusations.
I will admit, the call got extremely heated and out of hand; I do apologize for that. HOWEVER, I wanted to know more information about these "calls" that were made, the time of the day that they were placed, the number used, and what was asked, but Beth could NOT provide any further details for me. I am sure Beth made up this story to be slick and make me uncomfortable in support of her friend/colleague. In turn, she decided to "BAN" me from Aurora and forcefully "REMOVE" me if I come to the premises - all for my "attitude" and situation that SHE caused.
This is very upsetting - It made me realize these people have my information, when I call to the gym, the time and day I might check-in, and are also making up false stories to put in my file for other employees to see. Clearly, I am being watched and monitored. I have been a loyal client at numerous locations in the Seattle area. I go to the gym to decompress and not stress out over who sees me there.
To be harassed and berated by a person who has nothing to do with my life, over a petty and outside situation, is completely UNPROFESSIONAL. I simply needed to find my wallet and was treated unfairly with my privacy invaded.
LA Fitness clearly employs people who like to go on power trips with their...
Read moreI was really hesitant to come to this gym given the other reviews, but I'm actually really glad I joined! It has a lot of pros and cons, which I strongly recommend anyone looking for gyms in the area to consider.
Safety - I was really relieved to find that safety is actually ok. I'm a small woman so I'm very anxious about my personal safety and the safety of my vehicle. I spoke to the staff and they reported that break ins mostly happen in the parking spots along the further sides of the lot, or along the side of the gym which serves as an alley. They recommend parking as close as you can to the front of the gym and in view of the doors. So far I haven't had any issues. I've seen security walking around and patrolling the outside of the gym frequently. I would recommend anyone worried to go during the daytime hours and mind their parking spot. Park up front by the other businesses in the lot if necessary.
Bikes - I was really worried about this but they're actually super awesome and let me put my bike inside the gym with the staff!
Cleanliness - I haven't seen a single paper towel dispenser/wipe down spray anywhere in this gym. There's old grime in the crevices of the machines. No one cleans up after themselves. Best to go in clothes you will throw in the hamper after your workout and don't touch your face until you've washed your hands.
People - this place is REALLY busy. You need to come in with a game plan and figure out what time you come here. The place gets really packed during after work hours and around 9am. I find it's best to go at 8 or earlier, or after 7pm (which is a bit of a gamble given the nighttime parking situation mentioned above). Weekends are slow in general, but have shorter operating hours. Gym goers themselves seem fine. Some reviews here make them sound sketchy but as soon as you're in this gym, you forget you're on Aurora.
Staff - really ambivalent, I think they exist to push memberships/services, watch people check in at the front, or play on their phones. Heck they aren't even always at the front desk! Makes me worried someone dangerous could walk right in.
Equipment - this is one of the best gyms in the area for the amount of different types of equipment it offers. In fact, it's the largest LA fitness in the area. The biggest pro to me is that it has 3 squat racks. THREE!! Thank god for that because the wait for a squat isn't very bad at all. I basically signed up just for this because squats are king. The other reviewers are correct about the disappearing barbell collars though. I think I might start bringing in my own.
Price - I was surprised LA fitness is seriously raising prices! It's $40+/mo and the rates will keep raising over the course of the year!
Overall I think this is the most legit gym in the area with a large offering of equipment. Don't go to planet fitness if you're considering that. If you're not in the area, then find...
Read moreIt is with a heavy heart that I recount the distressing experience my mother, a loyal member of LA Fitness on Aurora in Seattle for over two decades, had to endure recently. The treatment she received at the hands of the management and employees during her visit was not only disappointing but also deeply concerning.
My mother, who is battling Alzheimer's disease, relies on the support of a caregiver to ensure her safety and well-being. However, when we arrived at the LA Fitness location on Aurora, we were met with a shocking display of insensitivity. The management and employees, rather than showing empathy and understanding, treated us with a level of mean-spiritedness that was completely uncalled for.
Despite my mother's longstanding membership and the fact that she needed assistance due to her condition, they adamantly refused to allow her caregiver to accompany her inside. This lack of consideration for her situation, especially after being a dedicated member for two decades, was utterly disheartening.
Alzheimer's is a debilitating disease that can leave individuals vulnerable and confused. It requires a compassionate and patient approach from those who interact with affected individuals. Sadly, the staff at this LA Fitness location seemed to lack the basic understanding of this fact. Their unwillingness to accommodate a simple request not only left my mother distressed but also highlighted a glaring lack of empathy within their customer service approach.
It is crucial for establishments, especially those in the service industry, to foster an environment of inclusivity and compassion. This experience has left me deeply disappointed in the management and employees of LA Fitness on Aurora in Seattle. Treating a dedicated member, who happens to be battling a serious medical condition, in such a manner is unacceptable and does not reflect well on the values a business should uphold.
I sincerely hope that this review reaches the higher-ups at LA Fitness and prompts them to reevaluate their training, policies, and customer service approach. No one should have to endure such distressing treatment, especially someone as vulnerable as my mother. As a family, we are left disheartened and will be seriously considering our continued association with a company that could allow such an unfortunate incident to occur.
In conclusion, the treatment my mother and our family received at LA Fitness on Aurora in Seattle was far from what anyone should expect from a business that claims to prioritize its members. The lack of compassion and understanding displayed during this incident was deeply disappointing and tarnishes the reputation of the...
