Tried to come here on a Wednesday and they were closed so beware, anyways
Food is fantastic, got the shrimp chow mein, sizzling squid, eggplant with peppers and preserved egg and spicy snails
Really good chow mein, deep wok hei, caramelized savory flavor, big shrimp, AL dente noodle, sizzling squid fresh aromatics spicy but not too spicy, eggplant was amazing not too mushy, the peppers cooked through nicely and sweet, preserved egg adding a nice contrasting richness. The snails have a lot of meat.
Service was good
Edit: Their menus are also very nice, pictures and English names for everything
Edit: got the shrimp fried rice, spicy boiled fish filet with tofu and dry string beans.
Good fried rice, not too rich, not mushy, huge shrimp again. Boiled fish was very flavorful and spicy and a massive portion, string beans were good
Edit: tried the mapo tofu and seafood casserole, also had the shrimp chow mein again. The mapo tofu was mad spicy but good flavor and honestly the tingling of the lips is pleasant. Coming out the other end very pain however. Honestly the snails also gave extreme pain. Be careful. The seafood casserole was generally good little bits of squid lots of fish and shrimp and tofu. Beware the power of spicy. I used to be able to take it but I'm old...
Read moreBrought my Chinese mom who is missing mainland here to eat. We were both blown away! This is some of the most authentic Chinese food you'll find in Seattle. The fact that so many of their best dishes are random veggies and proteins stir fried together makes it so right. Don't order the regular stuff like twice cooked pork or mapo tofu here. Get their specialties, I guarantee you won't find celtuce and pork belly, stir fried rabbit, or chili pepper snail anywhere else in the city. I didn't know what to order so I asked my waiter to recommend things to me.
My favorite was the celtuce and pork belly, it's a seasonal special. He told me "it looks very ugly but it's surprisingly very delicious" and he was completely correct.
For dessert we had their fried rice cakes in brown sugar syrup. It was amazing! Tastes like what my grandmother would make back in China. If you like mochi with a crispy crust covered in syrup, I highly recommend it.
The wait was only ~30mins for our party of 2. It helps that you can wander Asian Family Market/Kiki's bakery next door...
Read moreThe boiled beef will blow your mind. The snail is good but it is really, really spicy. I finished it but was in pain lol. (Medium spice tolerance.) My friend who loves spicy really likes the taro with beef. It is probably the spiciest dish they have. It's delicious, too bad I can't eat much of it.
We got the toothpick lamb, not the best in U.S. but definitely top 3 in Seattle. Fried chicken with chili peppers my husband loves. But I like it OK, its mostly crunchy batter and I wish for bigger chunks of chicken. Not healthy, but delicious.
I miss their lotus stuffed with rice dessert. I think their veggie dish was a bit overpriced. And it stinks having to pay for a small bowl of rice. Wish they had a flat price for a big tub of rice because the food...
