Lux Pot Shop Ballard — Attraction in Seattle

Tl;dr Not what it used to be, inconsistent selection, high price points and unapproachable staff. Other neighborhood dispensaries have better daily deals and discounts and friendlier environment.

How it started: Pre pandemic was great! Friendly Diverse and knowledgeable staff, I was a loyal customer who didn’t mind the (much) higher price points bc overall experience was great. Very chill neighborhood vibe.

How’s its going: Less friendly, cannabis ignorant (compared to old crew) and impatient staff. If you’re a bro, you might be good. Otherwise…the dudes there aren’t outright mean but just condescending and impatient enough to make you feel uncomfortable and out of place.

Overall: If you’re in a pinch and don’t mind dropping extra coins Lux will do…just be prepared to be treated like an inconvenience . Otherwise if you want a comfortable environment with a consistently more approachable staff thats a bit more educated on different strains I might recommend American Mary’s a few steps up the block. Others have mentioned so just adding on to confirm the prices and daily deals are quite a bit better there too.

I deal with chronic pain from a spinal injury, depression, and insomnia, so I have a hard time finding relief. While we were visiting Seattle from out of state, I asked around for recommendations, and was told to pop over into LUX to find something to help out as traveling spikes both my pain and insomnia to the max.

Chill vibes when I went in, everyone was friendly. I specifically spoke with Devon, who really took the time to talk with me and hooked me up. I thought I was fairly knowledgeable, so initially I felt like I kinda knew what I'd want, but man did this dude know his stuff and explain it well. Devon helped me pick out some topicals specific to my pain issues, and a Fairwinds Deep Sleep cartridge that has been incredibly beneficial. It helped a lot during the trip, especially since the air mattress I was using sucked. Definitely better quality than anything I've gotten in the South. Wish I was able to snag some of the flower he was recommending, but I'll 100% be going back next time I'm in town again. This shop is so fantastic that I brave the trek through Ballard to get some amazing deals that would satisfy even the most extreme penny pincher. But let me tell you about the service, OH THE SERVICE, if I could give this place 10 stars I would just for the service! I always feel blessed and it makes my day when I am so fortunate enough to be served by my mans Thomas.

Not only is Thomas excellent to converse with (especially when I have had a little somethin somethin) but he is EXTREMELY knowledgeable and I can see he has developed sommelier type skills from his years of working there. Thomas was very knowledgeable, weirdly, about the cannabis suppositories that LUX offers, even though he has never tried them.

Him being spot on on how they would make me feel shows he has excellent knowledge, even if he does not have the experience using them, as he says he has not. He is the reason why I continue to frequent this establishment and why I recommend everyone to THIS LUX/establishment over other stores. Hopefully yall will be lucky enough to get him as your tender and take part in the tantalizing experience...
