Absolutely horrible. I thought most of the purpose behind this kind of establishment was to be of benefit to the community. Well not here, it seems the sole purpose is to take the hard earned $ of the local tax payer. I saw this because when I arrived I purchased 2 entry wrist bands for swimming, 1 for my 7yr old daughter & 1 myself we walked into the family locker room area and placed our street clothes, shoes & other things in a locker we then proceeded to the children/family swim area and began enjoying ourselves. Within 5 minutes of touching the water were where forced out of the pool by the confrontational and rude staff. Knowing they where far from closing time I asked a staff member why we had to get out and I was informed it was the lady's only swim time.. I'm wondering why I was not made aware of this prior to paying so I walked back to the front desk with a very upset child to look for the signage that I had to of missed saying this. But of course there was no such sign anywhere I asked the criminals behind the desk why they would let me pay for 5 min. Of swim time for my daughter and I and there response was to laugh in my face and say it's on the schedule. I asked what schedule. She then said they are normally on the counter but was unable to locate anything at all showing anything at all. I asked her if she really thought my daughter came to swim for 5 min and tell her how it was not right. I then remember being told it was lady's swim time and asked if my daughter could go swim and offered to pay for her again they told me no because she was not with an adult. Adult "lady" that is. I then had to explain to my child why we couldn't stay. Clearly disappointed she said "that's not right, why didnt the lady tell us when we paid?" Unabletoaaa. a. Al l

She said " they are going to give us our money we paid back right?" . I remind you this is a 7yr old with better ethics. It then made sense why it was so strongly requestedthat I pay in cash and couldn't get a receipt. To sum it up. Hang a dam sigh up. Use your dam words to talk to your customers. Stop ripping the...
Read moreThis is the only indoor community pool in South Seattle and it's awesome! If you live close by and will come more than once, at least buy yourself the punch card. Unlike a gym membership, it will never expire and you save money in an extra visit I believe.
To be honest, I actually don't know how to "swim". So I've never been to the part of the pool where you can do laps in different lanes. I can, however, comment on the other side where you have more of the family fun area. This includes the water slide, lazy river, circle "whirlpool", jacuzzi/hot tub, a cordoned off toddler area with splash park features, and a deeper kid open area. You're able to use some of their equipment including life vests and pool noodles! The water is comfortable and warm all year round.
Outside, there are 4-6 individual family changing and shower rooms so you can have that to yourselves. This is in addition to the general shower/bath/changing rooms that you don't have to wait for. Make sure that you check the schedule before you go as there are open family times and classes going on.
Suggestion for parents with toddlers: Rainier Beach Community Center is currently holding their toddler gym starting at 10am. You can start tiring your kid out here and then head to the 11am-12pm Family Swim time (intended for children 5 and under with parent). If your kid is still not tired, go back to the toddler gym for another hour or two! Keep in mind that food and beverages are only allowed in the outside common areas and not in the toddler gym. This schedule is current as...
Read moreWe take our kids for swim lessons here and we love it. The staff are really great. It's the only public pool in the Seattle area that offers women-only swim sessions which is really important for us. Registration for swim lessons is quite popular and fills up quite quickly so make sure to add the registration date on your calendar so you don't miss it.
The pool is pretty great. There's a recreation pool side with the water slide, lazy river, and whirl pool. It also has a hot tub, sauna, and full length pool for lap swimming. The temperature is great. The changing rooms are clean and they have ample showers. They even have accessible showers for people with disabilities. They also have six family rooms that are accessible with changing tables. You can also rent a locker for free, by either bringing your own pad lock or a quarter. You just insert the quarter and lock and remove the key. When you unlock it again, it returns...
