Excellent Management, Beautiful Building, Safe Environment
If you are looking for a great place to live in the city, look no further than The Rooster on 65th & Roosevelt. We like the Seattle vibe but don’t want to be in the mess of city traffic every day, so we looked to the Roosevelt area for it’s close proximity to recreation (hello Green Lake), transit (Roosevelt Station, 65th St Park & Ride), and great walking environment with enough eateries and grocery locations to not make it a food desert. It’s still got the city vibe but less congestion and more access to different amenities.
The Building: great modern building with excellent layouts that prioritize an open floor plan. This makes it an easy place to fit all your stuff and move it around several times to make it work. No goofy cut outs, just clean sight lines and huge windows.
Building safety is a priority for everyone that works, lives, and manages the building. The Main door is FOB entry and no one can get past the elevator without having a fob so you don’t have to worry about non-residents in your building. Parking garage is also fob entry AND exit. If they don’t have a fob they cannot get out quickly or easily.
Management: let’s face it, you could live in a great place but if the management and its supporting infrastructure is not quality then it can be a bad experience. The Rooster is managed professionally and it shows! Everyone can answer any question at any time. The group is well-versed in the environment and keeps in communication regarding any issues, upcoming events, and specials. Even better? They are MFTE proactive! If you qualify for MFTE living, they have experts that will walk you through the necessary steps to get your paperwork submitted. They are flexible and will work with you throughout the whole process.
With online portals for communication, service requests, billing, and package delivery notifications, this modern, clean, and positive environment stands out.
The Rooster and it’s management team (Emily, Frankie, Julie, et al) are top notch. They have made the environment a wonderful...
Read moreTLDR: Review is more towards leadership and finances as they don't do quality work and aren't detailed oriented. Staff at Rooster itself have been very helpful (thank you Emily and Julie!) UPDATE 04/19/2025: After much back and forth with Emily and Thrive Communities Financial/Accounting department, I was able to receive "credit" on my BILT rental portal AND "$500 extra concession" for the major inconvenience and impact this atrocious error that was made on my account. This was truly a miscommunication on accounting with onsite staff of Rooster as I was told by Emily that I should be expecting a check to be reimbursed of the $4k but in reality it was a refund through "credit" onto my account and no one told me about it until after. I didn't appreciate the "education and explanation" around what "credit" looks like on my portal, but this could be the fact that I don't have ANY EXPERIENCE looking at a property ledger and that numbers in "parenthesis" indicate "credit". This one could lean towards BILT themselves as any time I tried to call their customer service for them to explain to me where I can find the "credit" on my portal but it seems like BILT rental services are "non-existence". Updating the review to 2 star purely because of this issue AND that when I did my move-in checklist, there were MANY things in my unit that weren't fixed - dishwasher was not secured and almost fell out of its spot, dryer machine showed red error of "clean filter", missing panels under the sink, etc... (I have photos to prove) leaving my unit in my POV, not ready to move in. But, maintenance reached out after a week of me emailing a FOLLOW UP of these fixes and it sounds like they're working on, just frustrated that this place wasn't really move in ready and I've personally dealt with apartments trying to retaliate back at me that I was the one...
Read moreLived here 6 months, didnt have a great experience—especially after a turnover in management.
Why we had a bad experience: Had a break-in in our unit, attempted car break in the parking garage because the garage door at the property broke 3 times and took multiple days to fix. Big homeless population that loiters around the property—was a witness to an assault, police got the guy. No loading zone for move in and move out. Property manager out of office multiple times when we needed help. Poor lighting in unit, bad electrical wiring resulted in light switches that didn’t work—maintenance said it was too complicated to fix. Dog poop and pee in stairwell and elevator, notified property staff of pee in hallway, still there after a couple months. Additionally, the alleyway on the east of the property has suuuper loud dumpsters for bengal restaurant that are emptied between 3am and 630 am 4-5 times a week. Wakes me and my girlfriend up every time, so frustrating. 0 natural light in apartments facing in towards the courtyard.
Positives: full time staff is very friendly, roof has great views, close to greenlake, incredibly close to Whole Foods.
In my opinion, Over priced for what you get, and the negatives outweigh the positives. Tons of other properties coming online around the area. I’d go with them and make sure to ask about leasing specials as these buildings will be in lease-up and there’s an oversupply or apartment units in the area.
Left all this detail because finding out the negative nuances after committing to $36k for a year lease is really tough. And the consumer is without a doubt at a disadvantage with the...
