Do you value the appearance of your hair? If the answer is yes, do not go to Scissors & Scotch. If I could give 0 stars, I would. This place is an absolute disaster. The first red flag was when the employees were barely on time because they did not know where to park, since this salon just recently opened. I was scheduled to have a buzzcut with Shauna. I told her I wanted a 1 on the sides and 4 on top. She didn’t know what that meant, so I explained that it was the number of the clipper guard. She began to laugh nervously, and told me she usually uses scissors on top. Anyway, she asks another stylist to explain how to use the clippers on top. With her newfound knowledge, she approaches my head with the clippers. Shauna appears to be on the verge of tears. So am I. She is too nervous to make the first move, so she makes the other stylist do the first buzz. After that, Shauna takes the clippers and starts to work her “magic.” It only takes a couple of passes to realize that she has zero experience, and any hope of a decent haircut is out the window. She finishes and takes the cape off. I have to point out numerous spots that need to be fixed, so she puts the cape back on, but inside out, so now I am covered in hair. At some point, we both agree that she should just put the clippers down before I end up bald. I was still charged half price of the full buzzcut, which is ridiculous given the state my hair was in at the end of the cut (see photo of the final cut). I was asked how my experience was by a different staff member, and was encouraged multiple times to leave a review online about my haircut with Shauna. To salvage my hair, I immediately went to a nearby salon with a competent stylist who knew how to use clippers. Contrary to Scissor & Scotch’s claim that your haircut will be "the best damn part of your day," it turned out to be the worst part of mine. (submitted on my wife’s account)

My Partner has a membership here and loves it. He's from Philly and has been looking for a barbershop and finally found one here. This review is for the bar as I don't use their hair cut services as I cut my own hair. My partner has speaking so highly of this establishment and has been trying to get me to come here and have a drink while he gets his touch up or full service. Reese (sorry, if I misspelled your name). You're amazing!! I love that the liqueur served is not your typical liqueur. It really separates this establishment from the other bars in the neighborhood. I asked for a vodka cran and I got a vodka cran with all the sprinkles.. not your average vodka cran. Reese is super friendly and loving out the gate. Honestly, it felt like I've known Reese all my life. All the liquor that is on the shelf is so unique and some even local that I've never heard of. This bar is not your average bar around town.. this is not the Duch, Teddy's, Atlantic Crossing, or the Rez.. I will come back to have a drink made by Reese any day. Even if you don't want/have a barbershop appointment, come have a drink and meet Reese!!! She's lovely and her knowledge of drinks and mixing ingredients together is what you look for in a bartender!!! Scissors and Scotch is my new bar, I’ll be here even if my partner doesn’t have an appointment.

Everything but the haircut itself was great. I was able to get a complimentary drink before my cut and the ambiance was modern and sleek. The barber I had was really nice and she provided good service. But, this is supposed to be a barber shop. How does the barber not know how to use metal clippers? If she’s only had experience with plastic clippers, how do you expect people to pay full price for a haircut? The additional services are a great touch, but if you’re going to spend $80 on a haircut I better get someone that knows how to do a proper fade. If I’m going to pay these prices I’d rather go to Squire downtown.

DO. NOT. COME. HERE.

I’m shocked the Google reviews are so good…all the honest ones are on Yelp. I wish I could say the negative reviews I read were exaggerations, but I should have trusted them. I made the mistake of booking first and reading later. Lesson learned.

TL;DR: Nichy the "stylist" was rude, dismissive, and did the exact opposite of what we asked. Boyfriend asked for a trim, left practically bald. Wax service was forgotten too. Front desk lady was nice, but made no attempt to fix a very obvious bad experience. Never again.

I booked a haircut and wax trio for my boyfriend. From the moment he sat in Nichy's chair, the experience turned into a humiliating and frustrating ordeal. He politely explained he wanted a simple trim on the back and sides and to leave the top virtually untouched. Instead of listening, she immediately argued with him, so he asked me to step in. I clarified: just a trim, no clippers, scissors only...which is not an unreasonable request at a place literally named for scissors.

Rather than respecting what we, the paying clients, asked for, she loudly lectured us about split ends, claimed a scissor cut would be "pointless," and basically shamed him for not wanting frequent barber visits. She topped it off by loudly pointing out his "very obvious receding hairline" in front of everyone. The attitude was rude, condescending, and embarrassingly unprofessional.

She then ignored every preference he had. Her "solution" was a clipper cut: a #4 on the sides with a promise to "dust" the top with scissors. In reality, she buzzed nearly everything. He went in with four inches ....he left looking like he's headed to boot camp.

To add insult to injury, she clipped too high and then claimed she had "no choice" but to keep going with the clippers to fix her own mistake. When he came out to the lobby, I was so horrified I literally walked out.

But it gets worse: she completely forgot to do the wax services he had paid for, so we had to awkwardly go back just to get that refunded.

This shop may be fine if you want a buzz cut and to be treated like an inconvenience. But if you expect a stylist who respects your wishes, treats you with basic courtesy, or can actually deliver what you request; save yourself the frustration and...

DO ! NOT! COME! HERE!! At first I thought this horrible experience was a one off, but after reading other people's reviews of the similar experience not only with the company but specificly the barber Nichy, this is obviously a pattern that Scissors & Scotch refuse to address. First off, Nichy REFUSED to view photos that I brought for reference and to show the type of cut I was looking for. Refused to look at them, that should of been the first red flag to leave. She ended up chopping off WAY more than agreed, years worth of hair gone because she's so terrible at her job. Her co worker next to her, alt colored hair, could definitely tell she was messing up again and tried to say something about the MASSIVE CHOP she was doing. Nichy didnt listen, just kept rambling about how she moved from Texas and how the owner would never fire her cause she is the only African American on staff and that it would be racist. If Scissors & Scotch is that worried about diversity, at least make sure the people hired won't embarrass you and your company. I went in with Rockstar length hair, came out looking like Tina Belcher in season 1 🙄 Then ON TOP of it all, Scissors &Scotch over charged me. The haircut+drink+tip was about 98$, then Scissors & Scotch charged me again seperatly for $120! Over $200 for the worse experience. I tried to contact them and no one would awnser, I even filled out thier inhouse survey hoping to get it resolved, nothing.I called and called and called, finally days later I was able to speak to someone who said they would "look into it" and call back. Never got a phone call back. I had to work with the fraud department of my bank to get my money back. Terrible employee, terrible haircut, and wayyy over charged, basically stolen from Do not come here! And if do and get Nichy,...
