It was $34.95 per person with military and $36.95 per adult. Supposedly this is the new pricing after 4pm, so who knows what it costs before 4, but I feel that's pretty heft price. This Center is small, but enjoyable. I feel that $15 would be more reasonable, however, I do appreciate their conservation and rescue efforts so the money does go to a good cause. Also, this place has the best touch tank I have ever experienced! So many marine animals were available to gently touch with 1 to 2 fingers. Some of the species, I never even heard of before, like the California Sea Cucumber! It looked like it would be rough to the touch, but it was actually soft. They had different kinds of crabs, sea anemones, a huge variety of starfish, and more! Their exhibits also include sea birds like the Puffins, Black Oystercatchers, and unique ducks. They also had a single Harbor Seal, the Sea Lions were outside, so I believe they might be in recovery. They had some tanks with Rockfish, Skate Eggs, and a brilliantly, brightly colorful large fish I have never seen before. The tanks/exhibits do look too small for the animals (and the cost), which is why it has been docked a star. All in all, we...
Read moreOur family of five, with kids in both high school and middle school, had an amazing time at the Alaska SeaLife Center in Seward. This place is a must-visit if you're in the area, especially if you’ve got curious minds in tow. The exhibits were not only educational but engaging enough to keep our teens interested, which is no small feat!
I’m always planning our trips down to the last detail, and I’m glad we set aside 2 hrs for this waiting for our B&B to be read. The hands-on touch tanks were a big hit with the kids, and we all enjoyed learning about the local marine life—definitely some cool dinner conversation starters! The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, happy to answer all of our kids' endless questions.
One tip: if you’re like me and enjoy packing your own meals, there’s a nice area outside where we had a picnic after our visit. It was a perfect way to relax and enjoy the view of Resurrection Bay. Just remember, you’re in Alaska, so plan for layers!
All in all, the Alaska SeaLife Center is a fantastic spot for families, and it’s well worth the visit if...
Read moreIt was a nice visit but pretty average as small aquariums go. We would have liked to see more staff interaction with some of the exhibits or explaining in person more about the specific mammals especially. Outside exhibition viewing areas for the seals wtc were very small. The starfish petting area was really neat. Gift shop was well stocked and had some unique things. I guess being in AK with so much fish and sealife we expected a little more. Perhaps some movies? Some staff interaction with guests and definitely they need to have labels on each tank on the front below the glass with a photo of the fish so you know what you are looking at! Just a typed list of fish does nothing for the lay person. Some tanks had a rotating LED signboard listing the fish, but if a visitor was standing near it, none of the other 15 or so guests could see it. We felt the admission price is high for what you get. Additional fees are charged for other "experiences" which normally are a free with your admission to aquariums we have been to in the lower 48. We would not plan to...
