I believe in second chances. And that's the only reason I was sitting in the chair at Frozen Cactus salon this morning. Back in February I decided to treat myself to salon color. So I called to schedule an appointment with Alexandra at Frozen Cactus. I had to wait 6 weeks for an appointment but that's understandable especially when there's a new salon in town. I scheduled a time with her for a color consult and after talking with her, I scheduled two appointments as she thought that was best for what I was wanting to do with my hair. The day of my first appointment I was contacted by text from Alexandra that she was canceling my appointment and that I would need to call and reschedule. I spoke with her briefly then and we decided to do my full color process all in one day on the appointment I had previously scheduled For a week later. I arrived for the appointment and halfway through it was clear that the process she was currently performing on my hair was not going as planned. As she was washing my hair out she said she knew what happened and that she had "grabbed the wrong color remover packet". We briefly discussed what to do going forward and she applied a single color to my hair. The color was not at all what I wanted and was chosen only because the first process of color removal hadn't gone well. After that we were supposed to do highlights. By this time it was late in the evening, my husband and best friend were eating pizza in the salon because I was starving and had been there for over 2 hours already. At that point Alexandra decided she was too tired to complete the highlights in my hair and scheduled me for May 1st to complete the highlights. Another four weeks after my initial appointment. I was disappointed but understanding. She apologized profusely for the issue with the process on my hair and did not charge me for her time, charged me for product only. She also advised me that she would not charge me when I came in for the highlights. Within a week, the color that she applied to my hair washed out. Completely. I was a bit frustrated but willing to give her the chance to do my highlights and try to at least make it look better even though it was not what I wanted. A week or two after that my friend and I stopped in to talk to Brittany who does nails at the same salon. Alexandra saw me and repeated that she felt bad about my hair and that she would do the highlights for free. In the meantime I scheduled a beard trim for my husband. He took time off work to be there and arrived early. 10 minutes before the appointment time, she canceled his appointment. April 22nd my father died and I had to go down to the lower 48. I canceled my May 1st appointment and rescheduled it for June 3. Everything seemed fine as we were doing my highlights and they came out fine. I also got a trim. I went to pay for the trim and she charged me for the highlights. I reminded her that she said she wouldn't charge me for them. She stated that it had been so long since my first appointment that she had to charge me now. I disagreed, reminding her that she had canceled my first appointment and effectively canceled my highlight appointment by being too tired to finish. They only reason I had an appointment on May 1st to cancel was because she had canceled one appointment I'm finished the next one. I also reminded her that I had made an appointment for my husband that she had canceled. I've had three appointments with her and two of them were canceled, and a third one she left my hair unfinished. She argued with me that she had to charge me because it had been so long. And I reminded her again that she said she would not charge me. Ultimately I ended up paying and left. After about 10 minutes of thought, I went straight to my bank to dispute the charge. I texted her and reminded her of the whole process of appointments that I had been through and that she had told me twice that she would not charge me. I also reminded her I had people with me when she told me that. I advised her that I was disputing the total...
Read moreI just love Alex, Britney and Julie and the caring services they provide for my whole family! I’ve had beautiful haircuts & blowouts from Alex, who is my dear friend, and is so kind and fun to spend time with and is so talented as a hairstylist and salon owner. I always look forward to spending time with her with my next haircut coming up soon. My husband is very particular and used to only get his haircut in Anchorage, and now he goes to Alex too. He said he gets exactly what he asked for, and he looks so good after each haircut! Alex was so patient with my teen son and did a fantastic job cutting his thick hair, and my daughter recently wanted to cut off her long hair and got a cute short haircut that she liked with no complaints and she has received so many compliments! Britney is so sweet and did an amazing gel manicure for me that everyone has commented how beautiful my sparkly “mermaid” nails look. My gel manicure has lasted over five weeks as promised, and though I’m hard on my nails they’ve grown out without peeling or breaking. I was receiving services from Julie before she joined the Frozen Cactus team, and now it’s great that I can go see her at the salon and she does an excellent job helping me look my best. If you live in Seward or are visiting, I highly recommend the Frozen Cactus and their high...
