O.M.Gee is all I can say. Lone Chicharron Taqueria is AMAZING. Got into Seward late and was looking for a quick bite of real food. Lucky for us, "Lone Chicharron Taqueria" was open and on our radar. This fine establishment did not disappoint! We ordered elote and rockfish tacos and carnitas burritos to start. After our first bite, our eyes met and widened in stunned silence at how freaking delicious late night tacos and burritos could be. The food was fresh, flavorful, and unforgettable.
We've traveled and lived in many places and can honestly tell you these are the best tacos we've ever had. Even the best taco places in SoCal or Texas could not compare. THIS is how real food is supposed to be. We half joked we will move here just to eat here every day it's that good.
The portions and parking are plentiful. There is “The Seward Ale House” next door with good drinks and a jukebox, and a magic portal to "Lone Chicharron Taqueria"' if you'd like to sit in a less lit, pub with a pool table and jukebox yet still have access to the best tacos and burritos on the West Coast and elsewhere. Otherwise, LCT has some good drinks on their own as well. The restaurant is open late, clean, and has the best staff ever. The staff are beyond helpful, friendly, and patient so you're certain to have a great experience. The restaurant is well lit and chill. We came in close to closing, but no worries! They served up great food and drinks to us and those after us with a smile. Very professional! We will definitely be back.
Oh, wait. We did come back the very next day and were greeted with amazing off-menu breakfast burritos in the afternoon with some great hot sauces. When I say they're that good, I mean it. The only thing missing is an autographed cookbook from the chef. Seriously! Keep up the epic work, guys! You are so...
Read moreWe visited between lunch and dinner hours and it appears our experience wasn’t as good as most. The service by the cashier lady was subpar at best. We had some dietary restrictions we were working around and to say she was unhelpful would be generous. She was impatient and borderline rude when we tried to ask clarifying questions in regards to meal prep and ingredients. I could (almost) understand if they were crazy busy but that wasn’t the case. We felt pressured to hurry up and place our order so she could get to the next person in line.
They have a sign politely asking patrons to not interrupt the cooking staff and, in the middle of taking our order, she stopped, completely ignored us, and began to YELL rudely at a guy chatting with the guys on the grill. The look on the other guests faces confirmed we weren’t the only ones who were shocked by her outburst.
Once we received our tacos they were decent-sized, hot, and while flavorful, they were rather oily and quite salty.
Since the guys running the grill were friendly and helpful, I’d consider giving the place another shot but, if the same lady was working the orders I’d definitely...
Read moreA nice, simple menu at this pleasing taqueria. Very casual vibe matches the simple, fresh very flavorful food made to order, and quickly.
Promptly greeted upon entering, questions answered, and ordered up front from the wall-sized menu.
Chose a table- they are first come, first served-and picked up our order from the serving bar where there are napkins, utensils and self-serve water as well. It is a small set-up so you pick up your order and bus your own table. We appreciated the recycling bins present as well.
For us, it was like goldilocks - just right - the right amount of food, the right amount of heat. We tried the Hot Rod special -two tacos with a side of beans and rice. We both did a mix of taco options-carne asada, elote, and both had a pescado. Spot on! The beans and rice were perfect - NOT a giant gross goopy mess so common anymore- with just the right touch of fresh cilantro and a dash of cheese on the beans in a portion sized just right.
I do think they are going to need more tables here! We timed it just right, a little early in the evening. Yum. Hit the spot on an otherwise dreary, chilly, soggy day!...
