Update: Hubby reminded me several times that we really enjoyed the King crab legs here better than anywhere else because of the hot garlic parmesan butter for dipping served with the crab legs! This will be our 1st stop on return trip to Alaska for the best King Crab legs! Much more bang for the buck and worth the cost which was also much much less than other place we tried on this trip. My hubby and I celebrated his birthday here today and we were extremely happy!!! The King Crab legs, the Halibut with mango salsa and brownie ala mode were all excellent. All of the food was hot, fresh and very tasty. Great food, great server and great service!!! Would definitely recommend!!! Will return again!

We dined at Seasalt for an early dinner today (4:30pm). Eren was a great server and very attentive to our party of “6”. The “Alaskan Sami” was absolutely delicious! Four of us ordered that sandwich and were not disappointed. The other two had the Halibut in mango sauce. The fish was bland and very much overpriced in our opinion. We live on the Jersey Shore and are well aware of high summer populations in visitor towns. Had the fish been tastier it might have warranted the $36 price tag. The brownie a la mode was excellent as well. As we left we told others checking out the menu in the window about the Alaskan Sami. So yummy! The ambience, service and comfort inside were perfect. 👍

This is a hard one. There is a waitress there who is super sweet. Works in at least 2 restaurants here in town. Now Seward got hit hard by Covid. Everywhere the staff is limited- hours are weird. In total going out to eat in Seward needs time to normalize. We live in anchorage and frequently visit seward. Last time we came here we ate at some restaurant- I don't remember- because it was just ok.

The best places to eat hands down is chinooks and the mermaid grotto. Everywhere else is a waste of time. Anyways our server from our last trip out here, about a month ago-was amazing. Handled a crowded restaurants, entitled tourist, packed tables ALONE with such patience, tack, and kindly. She was rememberable while the food at the other restaurant was not.

So rememberable that on our next trip I ran into the same server now working at another location/ the sea salt and decided to stay. I made the mistake of eating the food at Sea Salt. When this restaurant first opened it had great reviews. The menu looks impressive. I think Covid hit this place hard and the restaurant lost probably critical cooks. My husband read reviews and did not want to go to this restaurant. BUT everywhere else was packed and this place was empty. And I saw a very rememberable, good, hard working, and kind person I really liked.

So we ate there. And the server was again amazing. The food was the 2nd worst eating experience I've ever had. No seasoning. Now, I rationalize seasoning is different for everyone. Let's just say if you don't mind no salt, flavor, or life in food- and some cultures don't mind- then you won't notice the utter lack of life to this menu.

My husband asked for fixings on his potato and our server was really perplexed by the question. It was cute and hilarious but taste wise very unfortunate.

We tipped extra. Why? Because the server ,Eliska, deserved it. She was amazing. She works 2 jobs, is overworked in understaffed times. I liked her so much I think whenever I see her in a restaurant I'll trust the place. Yes, she's that good. She took the potato comment in stride and even brought out butter. I feel good about tipping her what she deserves I feel conflicted on paying...

Where do I begin.

Well for starters the floor is trash looks like hasn't been cleaned in days. Food, hair, and garbage all over the place. However the view is remarkable!

The food is so overpriced. 20 bucks for "fish and chips" 10 bucks for cold soup and a cold greasy sandwich.. for a "house salad" 5 bucks

The staff: honestly less than helpful and didn't know much about the menu which was sad and embarrassing to not know what dressing and what is in a house salad. The two who were there were either talking to each other or on their phones.

Now onto the actual food...

House Salad: this was the most terrible, disgusting tasting house salad I ever had. In it was HALF a onion. (Yes you read that right Half) and 10 pieces of very thin sliced tomatoes.. The rest was head of lettuce. The salad was old and the lettuce was beginning to brown.. The ranch dressing was so salty couldn't use it on anything.

"Fish and chips": it is in quotations for a reason. There was barely any fish (three small 2.5-3.5 inch pieces) which was over salted and very greasy. The chips took up half the plate. With a fake salad underneath the "fish" that once again looked old.

Tomato Bisque: Don't get me wrong I love a little spice in my food as much as the next guy but, not in my Tomato Bisque. Which by the way was cold and the grilled cheese wasn't grilled it cold soggy half grilled cheese... the soup was overpowered by the spice and I couldn't finish it. However I started dipping my wife's fries in it and it kinda got better.

The water: Here's a thought for the staff.. if there are floaters in the water DONT GIVE IT That's gross.

The bathrooms were so disgusting it was not even funny which by the way are by the kitchen. The kitchen as a snuck a peek after I came out of that horrific bathroom was just as suspected dingy and gross. I mean food chillin out everywhere a cook who was playing with their hair..

In conclusion.. will my family eat here again? That's a negative. Do I recommend it to friends/family? Nope. Change everything about that place and get rid of "home of premier seafood" on your specials board.

So...

I'm not even one to leave reviews, I always give the benefit of the doubt. But this place, I would not even have given it one star, more like negative five. Part of the seward experience is the food. We were greatly let down this trip! We started with calamari, it was very bland and the texture was horrible. It did not taste fresh at all, but frozen. Not only that, but the portion was so small it did not even cover the bottom of the dish it was served in. In fact, I think there was more garnish on the plate. Sauce was good, I'll give them that but didn't have much to dip into it. We also had a bowl of clam chowder. It was so thin and tasted of straight milk. When asked how the meal was, we let the waiter know about the soup. He said he didn't know much about clam chowder, he has never had it but would talk to the chef. He returned and said the chef told him he's following his own recipe and that is how it is supposed to be. FLOORED lol he did not offer at all any way to satisfy his customers. Ordered a kids cheeseburger and was asked if we wished to add anything. We added American cheese and bacon. The burger itself was so stinkin dry! As was the bacon, and no mayonnaise added, I did not even know you could mess up a burger before today. The bacon and the cheese was each an additional three dollars, and there was no mention of this on the menu or from the waitress. Lastly, horseradish for the prime rib was way too cut with mayonnaise! Definitely not the experience we had hoped for and expected. $130 dollars later and none of us left satisfied. The water and drinks were the best part, minus having to wave down our waitress to...
