Let me start off by saying I know and appreciate order and I respect rules. I went to Marcus theatre in Shakopee to enjoy a nice evening with my daughter. I spent $22.00 on two tickets and $22.27 on one large popcorn and two large icees. As we handed our tickets to the attendant he expressed my purse may not be allowed. I explained that it was the purse I carried to the movies all the time. He asked me to put it up to a diagram which indicated that my purse was roughly an inch wider than allowed. I opened it and said he could search it. I didn’t have any outside snacks. He said he couldn’t allow me in and I had to take my purse to my car. I asked for a manager and she said replied in the same manner. I told them I wanted a refund for my tickets and left. My issue with how this was handled is what seemed to be a lack of customer care in implementing a new policy. I didn’t see a sign as I entered the building. When I put my purse on the counter to pay for my tickets no one said anything. When I put my purse on the counter to pay for my snacks no one said anything. It wasn’t until I was ready to enter my movie that my purse was addressed. If the purpose of the policy is to ensure people don’t bring in outside snacks, why wasn’t it acceptable to look into my purse as I requested? I am concerned with how the policy is applied and who it is intended to impact. The lack of customer care resulted in my daughter and I enjoying several movies on Netflix. The night wasn’t ruined, but I won’t be back. I spent $22.27 on what I could have gotten at the gas station for $5.00 and was asked to take my purse, which contained the rest of my money, to the car. Our night was not lost, but I can only imagine the loss of revenue these policies will continue to...
Read moreArrived at 7:00 pm for a 7:55 movie. Pre-purchased seats online via Fandango. At 7:05 my wife and I order a burger and salad. At 7:55, 50 minutes later, we were still waiting for our food, as were many other people... Yes its opening night, yes the majority of food patrons were taking advantage of the 50% off large pizza. But, if you understand how important first impressions are to return business and word of mouth, seems to me this would be planned for, so no one experiences unreasonable wait times, unless that was factored into the revenue projections from food sales from the 'Express' window - sorry for the sarcasm. There were at least 30 people in dress business attire (execs, investors, management?) wearing name badges mostly standing around congratulating themselves - seemingly oblivious to the situation. Assuming they would actually be concerned that the customer experience on opening night from the food service was sub par, you'd expect someone would have the point of awareness to roll up their sleeves and chip in and help in the kitchen, or ensure orders were going out in a reasonable time, especially for orders that weren't eating 50 percent of the profits (a 12 dollar burger and 9 dollar salad.... has to be a high gross margin) - the majority of the wait was due to everyone redeeming the 50 percent off coupon that was mailed to the surrounding area. Poor planning on someone's part. If I were an investor I would be very upset. I'm sure the movie experience would have been good, but we decided to wait until another time when we will get dinner elsewhere before we come to watch a movie. On a positive note, the staff that was actually working were very nice and friendly. Getting refunds for the food and tickets went very smoothly...
Read moreSuper disappointing as we’ve been here before and I’ve felt it was an ok theater. Last night we took the kids to see Sing 2, the theater was DISGUSTING. Very gross in every area. Here’s just a few to list; the chairs had popcorn in and all around them (stuffed in the sides of chairs visible), food; popcorn all over floor, drinks spilt on the cup holder area, toilet paper in the hallways, we won’t even mention the bathrooms 🤢, only 2 out of 4 or 5 so soda machines working half were out of different types, slushy machines we were told out of order no sign stating this just what appeared to be old gross slushy sitting in machines and the entire theater room literally smelled gross. I never in my life had to wipe down an area before use and I would NOT let my children sit until I wiped ( thank goodness I had baby wipes) all the chairs and cup holders. Had I not had them we would have left. I am not a serious germ phobia type person but this place was that gross. With everything going on in our world currently you would think the least they could do is spend a bit more time cleaning. So GROSS we won’t be back and I will share with everyone I know to save them this disgusting experience. Make the drive to Burnsville paragon so much better. Marcus theaters up your CLEANING standards because right now there is none. ( I wish I would have taken photos but I was to busy cleaning so my family could enjoy the $70 movie...
