This restored mansion is situated at the dead end of a street overlooking Sheboygan's Deland Lakefront Park and Harbor Centre Marina. We stayed in the opulent Michigan room with views at three angles over Lake Michigan. The dramatic beauty of the lake is mesmerizing; we watched strong winds dash foamy tides onto the expansive white sand beach below. The next morning we watched a gigantic orange sun reflected off placid lake waters while sipping coffee on the private roof deck. Lake View Mansion is within walking distance of the John Michael Kohler art museum and the city marina, but it is hard to leave the comfort of the spacious room, complete with gas fireplace, comfortable seating and king sized bed. On the first floor, we enjoyed the library, formal drawing room and patio. The photo diary displayed in the library showed the intense restoration needed to bring this mansion from a shop of horrors near destruction to its present...
Read moreWe visited this fabulous mansion in mid-April and had just the best time. The owners are fantastic people who want you to explore the area and get to love Sheboygan, which was easy to do: terrific Kohler Art Museum (check out the bathrooms!), great and funky riverside pub (The Duke of Devon), Lake Michigan, nifty lighthouse to walk out to, etc, etc! The mansion itself is ready for anything, from a quiet reading room, gorgeous dining room that would seat 20, it seems, lovely outside fire pit to an outstanding basement filled with anything you'd want - karaoke, cards, pool, giant tv in a separate room. All the rooms have gas fireplaces that allow you to get a fire going with no effort. This place would be great in the winter, but also really fantastic in the summer, with the beach right below you, bikes, canoes, etc. We also found an awesome consignment shop with great bargains! If you get a chance, check it out. You...
Read moreWe had the good fortune to stay at the Lake View Mansion in mid-April. What a glorious place to spend the weekend! The hostess, Chris, wants every boarder to love Sheboygan and we certainly did; from the Kohler Art Museum (check out the bathrooms), to a wonderful riverside pub called The Duke of Devon (or was it the Earl?), to a great little consignment shop! The mansion is perfect for large groups (one room could sleep 7 kids, if needed!) or reunions. There are areas for all your moods, from quiet reading rooms, to a fantastic dining room that can seat 20 people, to an awesome basement with a beautiful wood bar, pool table, card table, separate room with huge tv (and chalkboard, if someone needs to do some explaining!), and karaoke! Throughout the house are fireplaces, that are easy to start! You can walk to the beach, ride bikes, canoe on Lake Michigan. It would be fabulous either winter or...
