The staff were friendly and helpful. The venue is OK. One significant issue is restroom space only one unisex toilet on 3rd floor which is not enough for 40 plus people at a dinner. Also the elevator is not user accessible and not attended constantly making it diificult for those with mobility issues. Nice space, but, could use a restroom update and requires some planning depending on those attending. So many variables with catering I will leave this for people to investigate on their own. --- Edit after reply as I said it is impoossible to review catering in a situation like this, so I did not. I had no idea of restrooms downstairs and know that I was not the only one although I cannot say I was not in the minority. Only restroom I was directed to was the one mentioned. Now as to the elevator, I would ask the person responding to understand that they are not mobility impaired. If you have to walk to a staff member then walk to the elevator, then walk to your destination it might not seem like much to most, but, for some it is a challenge. This information can be used to help make a difference for guests who face challenges or it can be ignored as it does not apply to most. The space is nice and if one is looking for a historical venue this might well be it. As I said originally all staff were friendly and helpful. I added a star for...
Read moreOur experience with Uptown Indigo was excellent from start to finish. We first visited while it was undergoing its restoration and renovation and were immediately blown away by the space, its elegance, and its potential not only as a great venue option for us, but as a valuable asset to the city of Shelby. During the planning phase, Duncan, Rachael, and their staff were always friendly, attentive, and eager to focus on the special personal touches we desired for our wedding reception. When the big day finally came, the wedding reception went off without a hitch, the venue looked incredible, our guests were shown outstanding hospitality, and my husband and I didn’t have to worry about a single thing. Everything was taken care of so we could enjoy our day, our guests, and each other. Born and raised in Shelby, I have always been proud my town and love seeing Shelby and its people, businesses, and traditions represented and celebrated. We wanted our wedding weekend to do just that, and with the help of Uptown Indigo, I think we were successful. I look forward to seeing how Uptown Indigo continues to serve Shelby and the...
Read moreMy husband and I were the first couple to get married at Uptown Indigo. The uptown atmosphere was incredible. I got so many compliments and text messages about our venue choice. We were able to save money in many ways, and we were able to plan our wedding extremely fast. My husband and I needed to get married rather quickly because David's father is having health problems - we really needed to have the wedding happen because his father wanted to be the best man. The full handicap accessibility was very important to us, and it was 100% convenient.
The drinks were good, the dancing was great, and the whole day went WONDERFULLY. Highly recommend Uptown Indigo, and we were so happy to be the first wedding at Uptown Indigo! The customer service was so top notch - Adam was a brilliant bartender, and Duncan was there at every step to make sure that things went smoothly (like the handing the microphone out during the speeches, and handling the moment when I marched from the historic elevator to the alter!).
This was everything that we wanted and more. I would refer Uptown...
