Dissapointed in the length of time it took for our food to arrive, things went down hill from there. Loving how it's located in old downtown Shelby. Easy street parking, double door entrance for easy access. The decor is very spartan and a tiny bit tatty, and the menu is a combination of Italian/Greek food. This seems to be a trend out here in Shelby. We have dined at 3-4 restaurants with similar menus. We were seated immediately on a Saturday, and we were there between 5-6. I do understand the rotation for seating in the restaurant. However, we were seated at a table that should have only been for 1, not 2 people. We were cramped, and I felt claustrophobic the space was so tight. The host neglected to ask if we were comfortable with this table, mistake. We were greeted quickly by our server, offered drinks. We immediately placed our order. I asked the server for her recommendations, she suggested one of the specials, shrimp trio. We received our appetizer, fairly quickly. As we waited, the restaurant quickly filled up. We observed all of the new tables seated after us place their orders and received their orders very quickly. We continued to wait. At least 6-8 tables seated after we were, receive their orders rapidly. While we waited, we ate an entire basket of crackers. I kept making eye contact with our server, she finally approached us to apologize for the delay in our food arrival. I had hoped that in ordering one of the specials that it would not be an issue. I have worked in restaurants, so I'm very familiar with the processes there. My family also owned a high-end restaurant abroad. We waited for at least 30-40 minutes for our entrées. Once they arrived, the server stated she was sorry and offered a complimentary dessert. I was assuming at this point the manager would have graced us with his presence, he did not. He was extremely ensconced in a conversation with another table for most of this time. Not sure at this point if we will return. The food was good, not great. We waited an extremely long time for uncomplicated orders. We had no special requests for our...
Read moreFood ordered- Chicken fettuccine Alfredo, personal pizza, eggplant parmesan, kids spaghetti w/meatballs, potato salad, salad, garlic bread. Food was actually really good minus the garlic bread. Ages 1-87 all loved it. The reason for the 2 stars though is the rude staff. I was missing my kids meal no biggie ran back in the woman was kind about it and went to the back after listening it me verify I double checked and that was it. The other 2 younger (high school?) Girls up front though were not they were rude and not just to me but to other customers. One had pulled out her phone while checking a customer out, started texting, and even when the customer said thank you have a good evening the waitress was so wrapped up in her texting she didn't even acknowledge them back after handing them the card. The other younger hostess when explaining about what happened she asked if I doubled checked the smaller bag inside the bigger bag and I replied yes there was just the 2 side salads in there and while I'm mid-sentence she just dismissed the conversation and literally turned her head away. I felt so disrespected and mind you in the front of the house in front of customers checking out, coming in, and waiting it was humiliating. Mind you I did look a little rough I had just worked 16 hours, but regardless to be dismissed in such a manner and made to sound like I was lying about the missing kids meal in front of everyone was very disheartening and after a bad day almost had me in tears. My only response back was if I wasnt sure or just trying to get a free meal don't you think I'd pick the most expensive thing I ordered and not the least...
Read moreMy wife and I visited Shelby for the first time. We just recently moved to NC. We Googled restaurants in inthe area and found Toscanos, and thought we'd give it a try. When we entered, the restaurant is inviting with tables and very large booths, and jazz playing overhead. My wife and I were seated at a table. She ordered a glass of wine, and me the designated driver, an ice tea.
The menu has plenty of choices, and there are also chalk board selections as you enter the restaurant.
My wife ordered a combination pasta (spaghetti ) with sausage, peppers, and mushrooms with a red sauce. I had the chicken pasta with a creamy garlic sauce, spinach and sun dried tomatoes. Because we were hungry, we also ordered an artichoke dip and we wanted to sample the soup of the day, " Lasagna Soup."
Our entrees both came with a very generous salad and garlic bread. Had we known any better, we probably would have skipped the other items, because this was plenty of food.
Everything we ordered was very good. The salads, soup, artichoke dip, garlic bread, and especially our pasta dishes.
I believe our server was Taylor, and she was very kind and attentive, as well as the gentleman that was busing the tables. We enjoyed our meal, and we'll definitely return to try...
