I had the pleasure of dining at Carolina Kitchen, and I must say that the experience was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment I walked in, I was impressed by the warm and inviting atmosphere, which set the tone for a truly memorable evening.

The food, of course, was the real highlight. I was blown away by the quality and presentation of every dish that arrived at my table. The attention to detail was evident in every aspect, from the perfectly cooked meats to the expertly prepared sides. The mashed potatoes, in particular, were a standout – creamy, rich, and utterly delicious.

But what truly made my experience stand out was the exceptional service provided by our waitress. She was attentive, knowledgeable, and meticulous in her attention to detail, ensuring that every need was met and every question was answered. Her dedication to her craft was evident in every interaction, and I was impressed by her ability to balance multiple tables with ease.

As I finished my meal and prepared to leave, I couldn't help but feel a sense of disappointment that I wouldn't be able to return to Carolina Kitchen on a daily basis. In fact, I was so impressed that I even attempted to bribe the staff to relocate to my hometown, so that I could enjoy their culinary delights on a regular basis. Alas, my efforts were unsuccessful, but I remain hopeful that one day I'll be able to return to this exceptional establishment.

Yesterday, I looked for an afternoon escape and texted "African American Restaurants in downtown Shelby." This morning I drove to the Carolina Kitchen and was impressed with its quaint, relaxed and intimate atmosphere.

I sat at a table for one(1) - that was interesting - and was met by a most pleasant Waitstaff. A menu and cutlery were promptly placed before me and my drink order taken. My chicken salad sandwich and spiced apple side (hot from the pot) were served; delicious!

I L-O-V-E small towns and small town hospitality. From the time that I walked in this place - until when I walked out - I was both greeted warmly and bid a sincere farewell, with an invitation to "come back again."

Tried for the first time today. The facility is clean and the staff very friendly. They have an extensive menu and have daily specials. The food was hot and fresh when brought out. It was seasoned well. The service was above normal. We were checked on several times and received drink refills without having to ask for them.

The only 'negative' for me was paper plates and plastic utensils. While I do understand it from a cleaning point, I prefer real dishes and utensils when I am eating a meal (meat and veggies). I'm okay with paper and plastic for sandwiches or burgers....just not for a...
