Unfortunately I had to come back and edit my review. After going to repot the plants I purchased from here, I realized that all of them had bug infestations, mostly mealybugs (even the Haworthia, which I have never experienced before). One of them also had aphids. Aside from the plants with bugs, I purchased two Agave (one of them was $75, so not cheap plants) that had completely rotten roots. I only realized yesterday because I took them both out of their pots to check for bugs. I have not watered the plants since I brought them home and I have only had them a couple weeks, so this was definitely an issue long before I bought them. It's sad because the people who work here are all extremely nice and knowledgeable. The plant selection is awesome too, but there's clearly a lack of care for the plants themselves. I was excited to come back, but I don't think I will be. The prices are too high to have this many issues.
Previous review: Wonderful selection of plants! Wonderful staff. All so helpful and you can really tell there is passion in the business. As far as price, yes, some of it is expensive but that's because it is rare! This isn't the Home Depot garden department, it's a speciality store. Will absolutely...
Read moreCalifornia Cactus Center is in Pasadena, Los Angeles. It's my new favorite nursery. It was my first time going to a cactus nursery. The shop is incredible with a large variety of unique, hard to find cacti and succulents. The plants are healthy and beautifully displayed in many different styles of arrangements. Custom arrangements are available or you pick what you like. It's a bit pricey but worth it as they sell plants that I have never seen anywhere else. It's a great place for collectors as well, or if you want to give something unique as a gift to someone who has everything. There is parking on the inside but limited to a few spots. Depending on the size of your car, it may be best to find parking on some side streets. It's a family-owned nursery with 42 years of passion and experience for collecting cacti and succulents. They are proud of the accomplishments they have archived since immigrating from Thailand in the 1950s. Also you can buy potting soil, pots, stones, worm droppings and many other tidbits to make your own beautiful arrangements. The ladies are absolutely friendly and you can ask any questions regarding...
Read moreSo many succulents!! They have such a wide variety of single plants and arrangements. You can also buy pots, soil, and toppers such as rocks and gravel to make lovely arrangements yourself. The staff is so attentive and friendly. It was slightly busy when we went, however when I asked someone for help, they wouldn't leave my side : another staff member would come to replace them to continue helping me. This exchange happened three times, I understood that they were busy but they also made a huge effort to help me and I never felt neglected, abandoned or ignored. We were visiting from San Jose. If we ever come back to this area, as a succulent and plant lover I will be visiting again. Be prepared to spend and hour just looking at all the...
