UPDATE 5/2022
They deserve more. Still cheap, have gone back to reasonable prices in veggies especially. The seafood has gone up but you can still find daily deals. BRING BACK THE BEEF BULGOGI PLEASE
This place used to be so packed you were crammed. I get that the pandemic has taken its toll on a lot of businesses but I'm not sure what happened here. I went maybe like 8 months ago and found the prices higher than usual on fruit, veggies and seafood. Their grocery prices have always been slightly higher but the kick was you saved tons on cheap produce. The fish was at least 4 dollars more the pound than what I used to pay. I noticed ASAP on the veggie section.
Went today. It was empty. Like desolate. It has been renovated (the seafood section) and looks really nice and cleaner but you're literally paying more than Kroger. I paid 5.99 for a lb of strawberries and they were 3.99 at Kroger. Outrageous 6 bucks for strawberries. 8 dollars for a bag of oranges. The fish was incredibly expensive (it's amazing tho, but dang pricey now) and literally didn't get shrimp/salmon there because of it being so overpriced.
Also their selection/Stock of food and veggies has decreased.
However their selection of fruit and veggies is far superior than a normal supermarket and they have some rare finds. Their veggies needs a throughout wash but that's how you know they are fresh. They have all kinds of fish that you'll never get at a normal supermarket, you can even get these pre made containers of korean bulgogi beef to cook (they are literally double the price in 2 years tho) but it's great and delicious
I'd still come to this place for fish and meat and non american veggies sometimes but I wouldn't be shopping here everyday.
Everything is going up I get it, still hard pill to swallow to pay that much for simple fruit like orange and strawberries.
I still suggest this tho if you want to impress someone with some nice fresh fish and some Asian/Hispanic or non traditional...

Plethora of selections of fruits, vegetables, and meats.
Very fresh and good produce, with a large assortment of fruits and vegetables typical from this region, as well as the most exotic ones from around the world and different seasons.
Some things you wouldn't expect, like aloe plants and dragonfruit.
Didn't have to sift through any bad produce.
Large selection of apples, bananas, oranges, and other basic fruits. A wide variety of chilis and peppers and fresh herbs. Abundant selection of greens for any traditional American or Asian cooking.
Many items available in pieces or in bulk.
The best part about all this are the amazing prices! SO cheap and reasonable.
The freshest cilantro I have ever tasted, 50 cents or 3/$1, usually. It goes fast! 3lb bag of onions, $2. Honey Crisp apples, 98 cents/lb, compared to a whopping $4/lb at Publix.
Mind you, those numbers may change slightly each week due to external factors like the industry or prices, but the selection and prices beat Publix, Kroger, and even Sprouts by far.
A huge selection of seafood from around the world, fresh or even live.
Chicken, beef, and pork also at great prices. They also sell halaal chicken!
With sale prices, 4 lbs of halaal chicken and seasonings which served a dinner for 4... cost $13 to buy.
The rest of the store is filled with aisles and aisles of spices, seasonings, and other cooking ingredients. Everything with choices from different parts of the world.
Ample (free) parking lot, not...
Read moreI was @ this market 6 days ago. Purchased a box of mangoes- Palenque Premium#4312 from Mexico. The next day I cut open one, and you can see the results. It was almost black/ gray on the inside. I waited another couple of days before opening another Mango, only to find the same ( black or gray colored inside). I was hopeful that it would turn out better the next day. But it was gray/ dark again. I called Customer care person / manager- Mr. Michael Lopez. Even if I had the receipt, he refused to offer refund or exchange. Even after pleading for 20 minutes, he DID NOT CARE. 24 Hrs was his policy. My good faith efforts in hope of better mangoes did not matter to him a bit. I have been an occasional client of this market. I have had stale meat, bad old bread, expired dairy products etc, but never called the store, in view of busy life style and a soft corner towards such privately owned farmers markets in general. Mangos looked nice and yellow when I had purchased, but started developing black spots on the skin. Close inspection revealed, mangos were packed on 04/19. Exactly a month ago. They were also Hot water treated before packing, as indicated on the box. What Michale does not understand, this $10 box of retail mangoes( his cost may be under $5) has cost him a client for ever, as I will not shop there...
