Food was too sweet and not for me — but I would still recommend if you’re into food on the sugary side of the spectrum.
Got the King Gresham Meal: Cheesesteak, 6 Wings, Fries, and a Drink. $25 + tax and tip if you generous like me. A lil pricey!!
I think the team at the front was great but maybe just give folks a heads up that the food might take like 15-20 mins. Felt like a really long wait, but the place is clean and decent music was playing so it wasn’t uncomfortable.
To their credit, everything was cooked to perfection and served hot. By the time I got home 10 mins away I still didn’t have to microwave my food.
The fries were especially tasty, so we were off to a great start…. But the “Hot” flavor on the wings were not a Buffalo flavor as expected and didn’t really have a kick to them, they had a sweetness. I could’ve possibly been given Hot Honey flavor accidentally, but no way to know since it was my first time.
The Philly was also objectively good, but I’m just not into sweet flavors all that much unless I ask for that. The overall flavor read as a teriyaki/honey kind of taste even with the cheese, onions, and banana peppers. Not what I was expecting.
Then came the lemonade that came with the combo. They only had 4 different drinks and I actually went for the lemonade cuz it seemed like it would be the least sweet of the lineup. Was hoping for something like Chick Fil A’s lemonade. Tartness would’ve been a nice cut thru all the sweet flavors, but once again, here go :::SUGAR::: as the main character doing her thing and barely any lemon flavor. So now I was straight up irritated.
Left the meal a bit disappointed and a touch more pre-diabetic probably, but I honestly would still recommend the place cuz the cooks are doing the damn thing and a lot of southern folks like all this gyatdamn sweet food anyway. If that’s you and you like sugary/honey/syrup type flavors for dinner you’ll be a big fan.
That’s just not what I want from cheesesteaks and wings tho. So they won’t see me for another 6 months at least. Maybe next time I’ll see if we can tweak some stuff so it’s...
Read moreHungry AF in Smyrna is a solid option if you’re in the area and craving hibachi, wings, or pasta. It’s not a place I’d drive across Georgia for (I am in Gainesville), but if you’re nearby, it’s definitely worth checking out for a quick, flavorful meal.
Location & Setup:
The building is tucked in a corner, and parking is on the opposite side, nice little sidewalk across and you'llbe there from the parking lot. Depending on the time of day, parking might get tight since there are a few other spots sharing the lot. I came right after they opened at 11 a.m., so no issues for me.
Inside, the space feels more geared toward takeout. There’s a long high-top bar table with individual seating if you want to eat there, but no group tables. No napkin or utensil stations either, so plan accordingly. The vibe is straightforward—no frills, no extra smiles, just order your food and go.
The Menu & Food:
Hungry AF offers a mix of hibachi, wings, pasta, and sandwiches. The menu is fun and flexible—you can mix and match proteins with different bases, like hibachi rice or pasta.
Penne Pasta with Chicken: The pasta was creamy and flavorful, with a sauce that felt homemade. The chicken cutlets were tender and well seasoned.
Honey Lemon Pepper Wings: These were the highlight for me. Crispy, juicy, and the perfect balance of sweet and tangy. They nailed the texture—crunchy without being overcooked.
Hibachi Rice with Chicken: This isn’t your typical hibachi rice. It’s packed with veggies and peppers, giving it a unique sweet-savory flavor. If you’re into bold flavors and don’t mind chunky veggies, you’ll enjoy it.
Final Thoughts:
Hungry AF delivers on flavor, especially if you’re looking for something quick and filling. It’s not a destination spot, but if you’re in Smyrna and hungry (AF 😆), it’s a good choice. Just don’t expect a dining experience—this place is all about grabbing your food and enjoying it without the fuss.
Pro tip: Get the wings. Seriously. And maybe pack some extra napkins in your...
Read moreWe're from out-of-town and were exhausted. We just wanted some good food. The reviews were a little iffy. Especially on other locations. But we took the chance and were so glad we did. We thought it was a sit-down restaurant but you order at the counter and most likely take out. There are plenty of bar style seating but it's really crowded with folks waiting for their orders, so don't plan on that. The 2 girls up front were Vey and Brandy. Sooo professional and helpful. They were quite the dynamic duo out there getting everyone in and out with it being so busy. They were wearing gloves and showing everyone their food before bagging it. They even handled a very rude and intoxicated customer like grown, experienced professionals and these girls are teens! I was very impressed with them. And the food beat all expectations. My son said the burger was mediocre. But the pasta is amazing. It's very simple but was gone way too soon. And the wings are fried to perfection. Flavors were great. The hibachi chicken and rice was surprising! Some comments said it was too sweet or had too much going on.. I disagree. I added two cups of the boom boom sauce (basically a spicy yum yum sauce) and my mouth watered lol. I didn't get the "sweet", but maybe that's bc the sauce I added is tangy. Another guess would be the glaze/marinade on the chicken. It does have a lot of different veggies (corn, broccoli, peas, etc) but I thought it was great. Not too much at all. Even better the next day and that's not usual for rice. It's just a tad different than your standard Japanese hibachi. I think it's bc the extra veggies and the shredded grilled chicken vs chopped. It's more like an awesome Cajun-ish stirfry. We've already decided we'll be back! And to this location...
