When business is done professionally I believe it's noteworthy. Furthermore, that they be recognized for that professionalism. Vortex Hobbies is among the many shops located in the Salt Lake Valley. First, let me begin by saying that their new location is fantastic, well laid out and roomy. I never feel like I'm rubbing elbows with other customers. The staff is friendly, courteous and passionate about the hobby industry, possessing knowledge in all areas with which they represent. As for the owner he is kind and helpful, obviously possessing the knowledge and understanding that the customer is the life blood of any business.
There are key factors involved in a businesses growth. The main factor being treating your customers right and keeping them happy. Vortex Hobbies understands these factors and their new location and growth are prime examples that they know how to do business and haven't lost sight of the key ingredient to maintaining a solid and enduring customer base. They simply keep the customers happy and their pricing competitive.
One final note. I would like to personally thank Kyle for his help. I have an XO-1 that I am modifying but the details surrounding the build are outside the realm of my abilities. When I inquired about the assembly and modifications that may be necessary I also told him I was willing to pay someone to help me get it done right. He laughed and simply told me to come by at my convenience with the unit and all the parts I had and he would make sure I received the help I needed to get the job done right. I was fully prepared to pay somebody to guide me through the build. Kyle, what you said and how you said it is what keeps customer's coming back to Vortex. By the way, I live in Bountiful and there are three closer hobby shops....
Read moreThey only care about making a sale and will sell you parts that will not work for your application. I now have $350 worth of useless upgrade parts that I cannot use unless I buy a different RC car. My wife bought me an RC car from Vortexx for my birthday. I wanted to gain some speed out of the RC car so we went to the hobby shop and they recommended to convert to LiPo and get a new motor that will hold up to the power. My bill ended up being over $350 for everything. I went home and installed everything and I keep breaking gears. I called them for advice and they told me that the RC car that I had could not hold that much power and that they do not make upgrade parts for it. Their recommendation was to put the original motor and batteries back in and that was all they could do. unfortunately there are no returns so I am stuck with 2 batteries and a motor that do not work for my application and they were not willing to help. Buyers beware, if you are new to the hobby or wanting sound advice from a store DO NOT SHOP HERE. I was excited to get into this hobby and with as much spent on this RC car and the worthless parts I could have just bought the upgraded models to begin with.

Read moreI've been flying helicopters for a couple months now. I've gone to other closer LHS several times, but it's always a crap shoot as to whether or not they would even have the parts in stock, and if they are, I feel like I'm being priced gouged when compared to what I could get them offline. Vortex has a full stock of parts and their prices are competitive with online retailers. Vortex is almost always my least expensive option since I don't have to pay for shipping. It's also very convenient since I can get parts right away.
I met the owner, Tim, at the airfield by my house. He helped me out with a new helicopter I was setting up/flying for the first time. He didn't mention that he was the owner of Vortex. I didn't find that out until later when we were talking and after I had told him that Vortex was the best LHS I'd found. He was a very knowledgeable, helpful, and down-to-earth guy. Now that I've met Tim, I'm even more sold on Vortex Hobbies. I'll definitely be looking to them for all my hobby needs and recommending them to anyone...
