Dont waste your time here. If you want a better experience go to Sushi Ya in Draper. 35 minutes is how long we waited for our food until we finally stood up and left. We watched people who ordered after us get their food within just a few minutes of ordering. Our waitress was awkward too. When she went to go seat us she didn't say two words. She just grabbed the menus and stared at us until we followed. Someone brought us water and about 10 minutes later we ordered. When the waitress came to take our order she didn't say anything again. Instead she just stood there until we started ordering. I watched her put the order into the Ipad and then the long waiting game started. Finally after about 25 minutes our waitress came back and awkwardly hovered over me, but again, she didn't say a word. So we told her that we ordered 25 minutes ago and asked what's going on. She didn't say a word again. So we asked more direct, where's out food? She quietly said that the kitchen was backed up but she would go check on it. If the kitchen was really backed up then why were people ordering food after us and still getting it before us? Also, why was the kitchen staff not hurrying? I could see the chefs just kinda hanging out, talking, laughing, and just taking their time. We waited another 15 minutes for our waiter to come back and let us know what happened to our order. She never came back. So we finally stood up and left. As we were standing up I could see the kitchen staff, the waiter, and what I assume to be the manager talking, looking at our order, and pointing at us, so I know they knew something was up. But instead of addressing the problem with us they just kept us in the dark. We left and went to Sushi Ya I'm Draper. Within 15 minutes of walking into Sushi ya we were seated, ordered ourfood, and were eating our first 2 rolls. Itto Sushi used to be our favorite place but they have now lost not only us but also my extended family who has also had several bad experiences over the last few times they've been. When we first walked into itto sushi there was the smell of old fish in the air as well. Not just like a fish smell but a fish that had been sitting our for a few days. I also watched the kitchen staff touch their faces several times with their gloves and then keep working with those said gloves. Kyujung An, as the registered agent, I don't know what the heck type of operation you have going on here but it's awful. i highly recommend everyone stays away from Itto Sushi. The worst part of it was the fact that we had to cancel the rest of our birthday plans because dinner took until 9 pm since we had to go to another resturant and...
Read moreI've been here three plus times for dinner and had sushi rolls, sashimi, and okonomiyaki with family and that was a 5 star experience. The appearance and flavor of the rolls is great! We love the Romeo and Juliet, the Mafia, and the Firebird, but all are yummy. I do wish they had more with only raw fish though, as most of the options are cooked in some way it feels like, with raw fish options just on top. Perhaps that's just Utah preferences though. I've still really enjoyed every roll I've ordered. I came here for lunch for the first time though and was a little let down. I got the Bento box with 3 nigiri and salmon teriyaki. Let me start with the pros: delicious wasabi with a good texture and amount of spice, yummy salad dressing, and great teriyaki sauce. The nigiri were also a lovely texture and nice flavor. The tray presentation looked cute and appetizing. Cons: The gyoza were deep fried, which I wasn't a fan of. I understand it's quicker, but I was hoping for pan fried the traditional way with steam. The salmon also seem to be fried? It wasn't baked or steamed, so the outer texture was a bit tough and dry. The inside of the fish was okay, and the sauce tasted great, but the texture outside wasn't very good. The salad was cheap iceburg lettuce and purple cabbage, but the dressing was so good I forgave that. It came with a big scoop of rice, so I was full by the end of the meal. I just regretting what I ordered. I'll stick to the sushi rolls and okonomiyaki going forward. My server also didn't refill my water until I was done with my meal and ready to leave, which was also a bit frustrating as I'd wanted to get a soda too after starting to eat. However, I still like the rolls, so I'll probably be back. This experience was a 3, but usually it's a 5, so I averaged...
Read moreThe dining experience at the sushi restaurant was characterized by a sophisticated and contemporary ambiance. Our servers exhibited professionalism, providing invaluable assistance. Every roll we tried was a delight, showcasing the mastery of the sushi craftsman.
However, I must admit that I was slightly disappointed with the quality of the uni. While it was undeniably fresh, it did not meet the exquisite standards I have come to expect from establishments like Takashi or Chopfuku. The uni lacked the desired sweetness, an aspect I find essential, especially given the price point.
On a more positive note, the toro was satisfactory, as it melted effortlessly in the mouth. Nevertheless, in my personal opinion, it possessed a slightly stronger fishy flavor than I prefer. Typically, toro exhibits a delicate sweetness that almost eclipses any fishiness.
Regrettably, our experience with the gunkan was disappointing. Although we ordered the Otoro, uni, and ikura combination, we were served toro with a quail egg instead. Realizing the mistake, we returned the dish to the kitchen, explaining that we had touched the sushi but not consumed it, and clarified that it should have featured uni and ikura on top. The server, displaying utmost courtesy, promptly conveyed the situation to the chef.
Surprisingly, rather than preparing a fresh replacement, the chef opted to add salmon roe to the gunkan, omitting the uni entirely. While the gesture was appreciated, it fell short of our expectations. It is worth mentioning that we have been loyal patrons of Itto for years, primarily frequenting the Midvale location. Comparatively, the South Jordan establishment did not disappoint, but we would gladly make the drive to Midvale for a more...
