As a driver of public transportation in Salt Lake City, we often are in need of a restroom. I walked into Munch Kart located at 894 E 3900 S b Millcreek, UT. Walking in, I didn’t see anyone working there to ask if it was ok to use their facilities. Needing to go desperately, I made my way to their bathroom. While using the facilities, I was rudely approached by a woman standing at the door asking “who is in here”. I explained to the woman that I was a driver and was in need of using the restroom. The woman began yelling at me stating that their public business was private and that if anything was to come up missing she would report me to the manager and that I was on camera. I once again mentioned to the lady who I worked for and that I desperately needed to use the restroom. She continued to verbally badger me stating that I was not welcome to use their facilities. I did my best to reassure that I was not there to steal anything and that I just simply was in need of the restroom. She suddenly became very impatient and asked “are you taking a dump”? Which was very uncomfortable and embarrassing. While exiting the restaurant, I was met by the woman standing at the entrance who once again told me that I was not allowed inside to use the restroom. She stated that I was welcome to order food but not use their restrooms. After this extremely unpleasant and highly offensive experience, I WILL NEVER order or eat at this establishment nor would I EVER recommend it to any of my friends and family. This establishment is a “public business” and if they choose not to let a customer or patron use their facilities, I highly recommend that they post a visible sign to the public that they facilitates are off limits unless they are dining there. Very poor...
Read moreWe visited Munchkart on a weekday afternoon when there were no other people in the restaurant. We enjoyed the pani puri and palak paneer. We also got a free dessert because of the first-time customer offer. While their service was fast, we had a poor experience with the food we ordered. We requested no butter to be added to the food we ordered and were told that this was possible. Both items we ordered (Vada pav and naan) were served with butter even when explicitly asked not to add any. We had to request new orders for both items. The vada pav was also completely cold from within. We also ordered a palak paneer for an entree. We ordered 2 rotis to go with it. After placing the order and paying, we were told that there were no rotis and we would be refunded that amount. I then placed a separate order for a Peshawari naan, which was described on the menu as "a soft and fluffy Indian bread, baked in a traditional clay oven, brushed with butter and served hot, perfect to scoop up any curry dish." We ended up receiving the Peshawari naan coated with sugar from within. We would have not ordered the Peshawari naan, had we known it would include sugar. We also ordered a drink with free refills but were just given a can. When I asked the server how we could get free refills, he just shrugged and said that the soda...
Read moreOverwhelming number of reviews are from people with 10 reviews or less but out of the handful of local guides they mostly rated this location with 5 stars. The restaurant opened 3 months ago. Upon entering I was a little concerned for a Saturday during lunch time the place was a ghost town. No music playing in lobby but the wall art (see pic) is interesting. The chairs are made of wire metal and were uncomfortable to sit in but we were able to locate some chair pads making them tolerable. The air conditioning was comfortable and the side of the restaurant has a nice patio for more temperate days. The food itself was mixed, the saag chicken spicy was pretty good but hardly spicy (best place I've found for spicy in Utah is Saffron while flavor and taste was probably hemalain Kitchen), while the makhani chicken was pretty bland. Both were fairly small portioned as other reviewers have noted. The rice was fine basic white rice no issues. The roti's were excellent.
Overall neither a positive nor negative experience. I'd come again if part of my party hadn't tried it but otherwise I'd pass for other...
