I went to the ER last Saturday evening after sustaining a fall down some stairs. I had a laceration of my upper arm that needed to be explored and sutured. I arrived at approximately 6:30pm reported to the desk to be signed in at Triage and wait to be called. I went in to the Triage Nurse at approximately 7:10 pm was examined and put in bay #12. The next person to come in was from pt registration asking the usual questions to which I replied I've already filled this out online. I recieved no information on when I would be seen by the doctor. I then put the call light on to inquire about where the doctor was and when he or his designe would see me. A young nurse entered the room and when I asked she said "I don't know". She then looked at the computer and said " No one has signed on to see you yet" this was after 8pm. I had to use the rest room so I asked her to put some sort of a dressing on my arm so as not to bleed all over the place. Her attitude was less than spectacular... I inquired again after 4 hours when was I going to be seen by the doctor and the reply was "soon we are really busy" From where I was sitting it didn't appear to be really busy. NO ONE GAVE ME ANY INFORMATION. At 1am I finally recieved a Tetanus Shot with the promise of being the next pt for the doctor to see. At approximately 2 am an xray tech came in and said she was taking me for an x-ray of my arm to R/O a foreign body.(glass which isn't visible on x-ray). I refused. The doctor came in about 30-45 minutes later and asked if anyone had rinsed out my wound. No one had done anything of the kind. He said he would inject local anesthesia and then have someone irrigate the wound. At 2:30 am he started suturing my wound. I asked about using a finer type suture and his reply was this is all I have. We ran out of the finer suture and it wasn't re-ordered. A dressing was placed and taped on my arm. I recieved discharge instructions and antibiotics were sent to my pharmacy... I left the ER at 3 am! This is unacceptable to me. I'm a registered nurse and a former employee of this institution. I will think twice about using this facility again. Patient satisfaction isn't at the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis hospital ER has become very ill equipped to deal with patients in the after hours -especially. TERRIBLE. I have a history of diverticulitis, and went in last night - with pain and fever and had experienced a 101 temp - the ydid a CT scan and urine and blood test - nothing showed on the scan - BUT I had been taking Amoxicillin since 24hrs before that - because I know from experience - and SoCo Hospital would know too - if they had believed me and checked their records! I've been there over 4 times for it!! Who wouldn't then give the antibiotics?? As a precaution anyway?? He gave me nothing with some paperwork that said "unexplained pain in lower abdomen" - it was the same as before - cramping, tenderness, pressure in center of bladder area, fever, I told them I KNEW the symptoms WELL - and presented with all of those. The only thing that was different was the fever - because the Amoxicillin that I took the day before broke it - before I arrived there 24 hrs later..THANK God I had some..is all I can say. ALSO - a woman hawked some sputum or something into a plastic type bag with a rubber ring at top and her companion threw it into the waste can near all of US - NO one cleaned it up - just left in an open waste can - EVEN after I TOLD them about it. This is my second bad experience at So Co Hospital ER - ( once for waiting hours while people watched something on a screen, they were all standing around doing that - and then not addressing the tick bite I had, while visiting for diverticulitis in the past - ) something has GONE TERRIBLY WRONG there. I complained once to their hotline and got a call back - but now I go to the director. I see other complaints here about Dr. Duran - even my Dr. aid he was ill advised NOT to give me the antibiotics that I had previously started the day before since I only had 4 left - even if nothing showed on the scan - knowing my history of 4 times there for the same thing - this place I fear, has become a joke in...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis past Friday evening I wasnāt feeling well and went to the emergency room at South County Hospital. We were greeted by very kind and professional security officer. Even though I wasnāt feeling well he made me feel very good waiting in the ER for my turn. He made for a great environment for the sick people that were waiting to get into the emergency room. And then I was taken in by young lady by the name of Tallia she was amazing professional quick and helpful. From their Tallia Wheelchair me to the emergency room. From there I met Robin and a few others in the emergency room. She was amazing and took very good care of me in there along with the emergency room doctor I forgot his name and I apologize but he was very good and he made a very wise decision in admitting me.The x-rays nurses came in about 1 oāclock in the morning to take x-rays and they couldnāt of been more kind. From there they took me to room 102 and the room was Immaculate spacious and very new looking. Iāve stayed in for hospitals in the last 2 1/2 years and by far this was the nicest room Iāve seen. The folks that Iām about to mention all did an incredible job professional compassionate caring very easy to speak to staff that deserves recognition. With their inclusion makes the operation their seamless and Are definitely an asset to your company.Becca, Paige, Pam, Bridget, Michaela, April, Corrine, Dr Hart, Dr Rachel, Dr Buchbaum, the cleaner of my room. If I forgot anyone I apologize. The food by far was the best food Iāve had an any hospital. Everything was fantastic and your food and beverage department was very accommodating to my needs. I really think I couldnāt have gotten better treatment anywhere. I am so thankful to the whole staff in the whole hospital even the gentleman that wheeled me out when I was discharged was the kindest man. Now I see why people in the area say that we have one of the best hospitals around. South County Hospital THANK YOU TAKE A...
