My wife and I were concerned that actually being able to get a reservation here (dinner for 2) on short notice was a bad sign. I'm happy to report that our concern was 100% unfounded, as we walked into a place that suggested that we were, in fact, just super lucky. The place was hopping; almost every table and bar seat was filled. The vibe was cozy, warm, and pleasantly energetic. The anecdote I've been recalling to friends about this place is that at one point, a knife from our table fell onto the floor, and before my wife and I could finish discussing whether or not we can still use it or ask the staff for a clean one, one of the staff members was at our table with a clean knife for us. As I write this, I can imagine that someone reading this review may find this to be an unusual piece to highlight, but I was sincerely struck by that level of attentiveness and service, especially relative to the lower levels of service that we've become accustomed to at other venues. I was even more impressed later on to learn that the staff member who helped us with that knife was no other than the owner! Even more kudos there; seeing the owner in the trenches alongside her staff left a very positive impression on us. Anyway, my wife and I shared the smoked bluefish beignets, arancini, sweet pea fettucini, duck leg, pork trio, and chocolate torte. Every one of these was a delight. I found the beer list to be very good, with plenty of local and non-local options on tap and bottled/canned (I enjoyed a nice DIPA from Tilted Barn). The drink list looked interesting; I would have liked to try the old fashioned, but I was the DD. As mentioned, the service was top notch, and the atmosphere was very pleasant and inviting. I've recommended this place to a bunch of people over the past few days and will be excited to...
Read moreWe made reservations via Resy about an hour before going for a Saturday night dinner at 6:45. Highly recommend reservations if you want a guaranteed seat. The bar is first come, first served but was completely full when we got there, as were the tables. It was a bit loud, I think due to the tin ceilings, but not unbearable. The AC and fans were running, keeping the place on the cooler side.
We ordered a bottle of wine for the table and the mussels and clam chowder to start. I’m a bit of a traditionalist when it comes to chowder so was suspicious of the gnocchi addition. It was a light New England chowder, and the gnocchi really did add something extra to it. Highly recommend.
For dinner I got the Duck Sausage Garganelli which was also delicious. The homemade pasta was cooked al denté and the sauce was delicious. My partner got the Swordfish which was cooked to perfection. The standout part of that dish was truly the succotash medley.
For dessert, he got an old fashioned (traditional, not their maple version). I ordered the chocolate bourbon ice cream, so creamy and delicious, with a peanut butter whiskey on the rocks.
Highly recommend for a date night, or a...
Read moreLast Friday night , sat at bar with a friend . We were excited to eat as we had heard great things. Oysters were very small for typical RI oysters. Poor presentation also. Meals were served to us that were not ours . Because my friends order was the same as someone else's she began to eat hers as mine was whisked away . I was told mine would be out shortly . 15 min later mine my meal came out and it was greatly undercooked. I sent it back and 15 min later my correct meal , properly cooked was served . At this point , my friend had finished her meal quite some time ago. We basically went out to dinner and ate separately. The bill came and no mention of the poor service and/or compensation was spoke of .Nothing , not even our drinks were comped . Despite the food being tasty, this poor service experience has deterred me from returning. Please if you are a server or manager ..make sure your guests leave...
