If you’re reading the reviews and trying to determine if you should go to this place for ramen, don’t. This is very unauthentic mediocre ramen. First off, you have to pay beforehand even if you are dining in, which makes you leave a tip first. I wish I didn’t because the service sucked. Waitress only came by once to ask us how we were doing and spent the rest of the time speaking loudly to her coworkers. They don’t serve you water for free, you have to pay for water. They buns are a rip off. One small mediocre pork bun for $7. That was the first sign that this place was a scam. You can go to other places and get 2 better tasting pork buns for that price. The house ramen was boring. $18 for some broth, pieces of shredded pork, scallions, radish and one boiled egg that they don’t even cut in half. I paid $5 extra to add corn and bean sprouts and I regretted it. They gave me a spoonful of corn and literally 8 bean sprouts. I paid $23 for the ramen alone and it was probably the worse ramen I’ve had in a long time. The people giving this place 5 stars probably have never had any other ramen before, or just don’t have tastebuds. For the money I spent on the pork bun alone I’d rather pay the toll to go to BORU...

I have enjoyed the food but I made a decision to no longer order from them after picking up a take-out order this evening.

I ordered 2 ramen bowls ( broth, about 1/2 cup of veggies, and ramen). The cost was $44. I was charged an additional $1.20 "take out fee." That is expensive. The ramen normally comes with pork and egg. I asked for no pork or egg, and asked them to, instead, add extra veggies ( given the price of eggs and meat, I thought that throwing in an extra handful of veggies seemed reasonable). When I arrived, they informed me that they did leave out the egg and pork but they would still charge extra for the "extra" veggies.

I can afford the extra charge, I'm just unwilling to pay it because it seems, well... ridiculous.

I get the sense that profit comes before customer satisfaction. You can make a profit while also keeping customers happy.

You lost 2 customers over 1/2 cup...

Ordered the House Ramen for takeout a while back and was really impressed, and went back yesterday and treated myself after waiting all day for my car at Midas. Ordered the sweet hot chicken rice bowl and was equally as happy with my order this time around.

I don't know either of their names (sorry!), but the gentleman who I assume is the owner/lead cook was friendly and made sure to ask how everything was. The girl at the front who took my order was sweet and said she was in training, but did a good job!

Just a feel good sort of restaurant that you can't help but hope...

I have lived on emporium lunches over a decade, so after leaving URI, I really didn't have much desire to go back. But boy, am I glad I tried this place! The food is farm fresh, high quality, and creative. Knowing what local farms and vendors are being used makes me feel good about my choices and honestly tastes so much better than the flash frozen fried options I had in my undergrad years. My go-to are the poke bowl, the pork buns, and crispy tofu. I don't have pictures of the second two because they immediately got inhaled. ALSO, DOG FRIENDLY AND BYOB?!? YES PLEASE!

I noticed a new restaurant in the Kingston Emporium today, and I am so pleased that I wandered inside! I believe New Wave Kitchen just opened last week, glad I caught it so soon. :) I ordered the okonomiyaki, and I was beyond impressed. Wish I had taken a picture. Perfect portion sizes, I will be returning! Edit: I think they update their menu as foods are in season, but this is what it was in August 2021

Stumbled across this place on our way to Newport and stopped in for a quick dinner. The poke bowls here are amazing! Great fish quality and reasonable prices for the portion size. There was a little too much ginger for my partner in the salmon bowl but I thought it was fine. Would skip the pork buns next time because the poke bowl alone definitely was enough food.
