Plato’s Closet in Southington CT is hands down one of the best places to shop and sell clothes. Every time I walk in it feels like a treasure hunt where I can actually afford the treasures I find. The racks are filled with gently used trendy name brand items like Lululemon Nike Levi’s Birkenstocks and Coach. I have personally scored pieces worth over $100 for just $20 to $30.
The store is clean organized and constantly updating its inventory so there is always something new and exciting. The staff is always welcoming but I have to say the manager Caydence is truly amazing. She is incredibly kind attentive and makes every customer feel valued. You can tell she genuinely cares about both the store and the people who walk through the door which makes the shopping and selling experience even better.
The process of selling clothes is quick and easy. You can bring in gently used items and they will give you cash on the spot or you can shop right away with the credit. It is also great knowing that shopping here supports sustainable fashion and helps reduce waste by giving clothes a second life.
Whether you are looking for a great deal on quality pieces or want to make some extra cash from clothes you no longer wear this store is the place to go. Stylish sustainable and affordable Plato’s Closet Southington is truly a thrifters paradise. With people like Caydence running the show it is an absolute joy to shop here....
Read moreWaste of time and energy! Called last weekend and spoke to a woman she mentioned that they are looking for spring and summer clothing. Packed my large Rubbermaid with a majority of spring and summer clothes , I did throw in a few winter items because hey you never know! Now I would like to mention that all my clothing is gently worn, some with tags on, some not worn. In the Rubbermaid for example was White jeans from Express, shorts from the Loft, as well as nice tops from the same stores, Nice clothing and in good shape! Now, This store takes my belonging rummages through them and says “they aren’t interested in any items now”. Gives them back all tossed In my Rubbermaid like they could care less about my items. Why do my items need to be washed and folded if you are going to discard and treat my items like crap? Ok, that’s fine! But you clearly are being VERY mis-leading. Be upfront and honest in your website with what you are taking and stop wasting peoples time. I read reviews on Reddit about this place all on Reddit said sell on Poshmark- should have listened. I can only imagine how many people walked in with their stuff and...
Read moreThis place is a mess. They have all of their sections labeled, but it’s very confusing. The feeling of being othered that I felt, was something that I haven’t felt since going clothing shopping In middle school. All of their sizes in the main section go up to 2XL Yes, but the 2XL sections are extremely small. I myself couldn’t find anything. All of their plus sized clothes were cheap crap you can get off of shein. Not to mention I went there with my wife, and she wears a medium to large depending on the make of the clothing. She found a beautiful corset dress, and she only found that and we went up to check out, and the cashier was just short with us. I’m not sure if this was a backhanded comment or not , but the cashier told my wife “if you take it home and it doesn’t fit you , you can return it within seven days with the tags still on.” But it felt to us very like body shaming. But I want to know like when did Plato’s closet start only really catering to sized xl and under ????? Like the dress ? Did not fit. But don’t worry we will be gifting it...
