Don't believe the full refund satisfaction guarantee. It's a lie. It's just a sales gimmick
I purchased a pair of glasses three weeks ago. Right after I paid for my order, while still at the store, I changed my mind because I realized I was essentially paying $380 just for reading glasses
When I asked for a refund at that moment, I was told by the salesperson V. that they would have to deduct a restock fee
The thought of losing 30% of the total expense to cover the restock fee was just absurd so I had to ask the salesperson to proceed with the order. That was the only option I got. It felt like a coerced purchase. I had only spent there 30 min and the full refund guarantee was technically discarded
After talking to the corporate customer service two weeks later to report the store's practice, they confirmed there are no conditions to the refund guarantee. The "restock fee" doesn't exist. Even for lenses that are custom-made, the refund policy applies without restrictions. That's the corporate policy. An individual store can't make up their own conditions to prevent customers from returning products
Today I called the corporate office and they transferred to the store. I spoke to the W. who initially identified herself as the manager, and turned out not to be when I asked her to confirm her role. She said the actual manager was at another store
W. told me over the phone that now I could not get a refund at all because I had "exceeded the refund amount". Another made up condition
Because I reported the store practice to the corporate office, they retaliated by completely rejecting a refund. Again, there is no corporate condition to the guarantee as far as "exceeding refund amounts". It was made up by W. and supported by the store management if they stand by that made-up condition
She tried to use a previous refund to a purchase I made as the excuse. I've only made two purchases at Stanton Optical. The single one purchase I requested a refund for was in 2020. 4 years ago! I returned the glasses because the progressive lenses were defective
Was I supposed to keep the defective glasses just to not deplete my allocated refund limit set apparently for an infinite period of time? That's ridiculous!
The full refund guarantee is very clear in their website. Just being dissatisfied with the product is a good enough reason to get it. Now they are making up all of these conditions and putting all of this obstacles to not have to refund the purchase
The response from V. when I asked what my options were? "You can resell them"... what?!
I felt this is a serious enough issue to document it. It was a negative experience and other potential customers should be aware that Stanton Optical may not honor their guarantee by making up all kind of excuses
This was my personal experience. If others had good experiences, good for them. I think it's fair to share positive and negative experiences to give others the option to make decisions whether to do business with them based on what they feel are...
Read moreI visited Stanton Optical for the second time today after previously sending my daughter there for her exam, but this time, my experience was nothing short of disappointing. Despite having plenty of staff and customers in the office, the service and overall experience were subpar.
Upon arrival, I was greeted and told to wait until my name was called. The technician who performed my pre-testing was quick, but not very personable, and there were no liners on any of the equipment, which made me question how well the equipment was sanitized. I’m not usually squeamish, but the thought of my face touching equipment that others have used was unsettling.
They didn’t ask for my previous prescriptions, even though I had them as requested. I handed them over, and she just wrote them down. When I was called to see the doctor, I was met with a doctor on a screen who, within 5 minutes, concluded that my prescription had not changed.
I then had to wait again. I had requested a contact lens fitting, only to be told that they didn’t have my prescription in stock for either of the two brands that would work with my base curve. One of the staff suggested trying a different brand, but both I and the technician explained that the base curve is crucial, and it couldn’t just be swapped out. I was then told my trial lenses would need to be ordered, but they also suggested I switch to a newer brand and update my prescription.
This part of the appointment was by far the longest. I waited for almost 30 minutes for this supposed change, and when I repeatedly asked if we could move things along, I was met with more shuffling between employees, but nothing happened. At checkout, the manager asked how long a supply I wanted, and I responded that I wasn’t even sure what brand I’d be getting because they hadn’t supplied any trials. I then asked if I could just pay and leave, and once again, I was left waiting to see if the prescription could be updated. It never was.
At this point, I was beyond frustrated and voiced that I shouldn’t even be charged for a fitting, as no trials were provided as promised. I ended up paying $180 for 5 minutes with the doctor and 45 minutes of wasted time with the staff. I will never return to this location and strongly suggest you take your...
Read moreStranton Optical is friendly, when I went for my appointment, I saw the optometrist and he checked my eyes and everything, along with the exam the assist does before seeing the optometrist, when my husband went, he did not get his eyes checked the way I did and saw the an optometrist on a screen, so he did not get a proper eye exam with the phoropter. So, we are hoping that when he gets his glasses, they are a correct prescription. The signs and deals they offer can be tricky and confusing. Their deals are buy one get one free, they even mention it to you when you call to schedule an appointment. They also have a deal of buy two pairs of glasses for $79, but what they fail to tell you before the appointment or getting your eyes checked that those deals are only for people without insurance! The other thing is they do not tell you that you that you end up paying $59 if you don't buy a pair of glasses, even with the insurance coverage!!! So you kinda have to buy a pair of glasses to NOT be charged the $59. Whenever you are looking for a pair of glasses, if they do not explain the color code prices, they wall is confusing, it makes you think all the glasses that are on one wall are 2 for $79, but it's not!!! Only the blue labels are two for one $79... which they have a hand full of blue labels on glasses. This place needs to really consider updating the signs and letting people know the deals are only for anyone with NO insurance. That way, the people with insurance have the option of going elsewhere. Recommend for anyone without insurance. Overall, they have good service. NOT RECOMMENDED for anyone with Insurance.( If you don't buy a pair of glasses, they will charge you $59 for the exam, regardless of the insurance...
