Pretty disappointing. They advertise it over the phone that they had an indoor swimming pool and a rock climbing wall. The indoor swimming pool was so overly chlorinated that all 10 of the kids at the birthday party we're only able to swim for about 20 minutes before they all got out saying that their skin itched and their eyes were blurry and aggravated. They said it was difficult to breathe as well. Poor ventilation and poor chemical use.
Plus the rock wall consisted of a couple small strips that was floor to ceiling but the entire setup was only about 12 feet or so wide. A very small setup that really wasn't worth the time.
Plus, the price for what we got was pretty ridiculous. We had to pay a charge for the room per hour plus the deposit. Plus $6 per child for each child that we had come. I'm pretty sure there was another charge as well but I can't remember for sure. We had the room from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. I was finishing up the room right at 6:30 when the lady came in and told me I needed to hurry up because I was already late. She told me she was going to get me a caddy to do cleaning but it took her almost 10 minutes before she came back with it which put me almost 15 minutes over on my timing.
To top it all off the older woman that was working there continued to follow the children around and be harsh with them every time they did something that she didn't like. They were not being disrespectful or rude. They were not using vulgar language. They were not destroying people's property or causing any issues with the other guests. They were just a bunch of 14 year old kids trying to have a good time. After she snapped at them and told them that the facility was not their home and they could not be running around or being loud I had had enough. I explained to her that the facility was full of physical activities. Basketball. Rock climbing. Ping pong. A swimming pool. Exercise equipment. If the facility is going to allow 10 14 year old kids to have a birthday party there then they should expect the kids to get a little rambunctious. I'm a very strict parent and I don't feel that they were going too far whatsoever. If she can't handle some kids being noisy and excited during a birthday party then maybe that's not the job for her. All in all, for what we paid and the service that we got while there, I was very disappointed and I would recommend going somewhere else for your teenager's...
Read moreNice facility, but disappointing childcare. My husband and I got a membership to Chesterfield about 3 months ago. This is the second time we have decided to sign up here because the facility is nice, it's kept clean and the other members are all very respectful. This time around, however, I am a bit disappointed. We now have a 8 month old son and I can't say that I am impressed with the staffs ability to care for him. They give you a 2 hour window for childcare to get your workout in but we've never made it more than 45mins. Every time there has been some issue that has pulled us away from our work outs to pick him up early.
I really wish I was kidding when I say 'every time.' not kidding .... every single time.
My son is generally a pretty happy baby. The only time he cries is when he is wanting a bottle, needs to be changed, or just wants to be held. Most of the time he is just happy to be exploring his surroundings and watching new people. The other day when we were called to pick him up after only 30 mins in the pool, we were told that he just wouldn't calm down. ... which I have a very hard time believing especially because the bottle I had placed on the counter for him haddn't moved.
I think if my son was a bit older and more independent then it would probably be worth it but since their staff does not change diapers or feed, this has mostly just been an inconvenience. I guess I was looking for a place that provided childcare with a little more effort. It seems to me that the staff they have hired in this area doesn't really want to be in that position, or just doesn't want to deal with the smaller ones who require a little more care.
We love to use the lap lanes at the pool so this is just especially frustrating because by the time you've collected yourself enough to be able to go upstairs and check on the kid, it's really not worth it to have to change back into an already wet swimsuit and continue your work out.
If you're a mom or dad with an infant, I would suggest something else until your little one is walking and...
Read moreMy husband, an Alzheimer’s patient, and I first met Sean when he saw us walking the track at the Chesterfield Family Center. Though this first meeting was purely by chance, I am so thankful he approached me to ask what we were doing. After explaining our situation Sean said he was a personal trainer at the center, and he could help. I was skeptical at first since neither of us had ever worked with a personal trainer before. My skepticism changed to gratitude after I saw the joy, light and dignity he brought to my husband. After several months of following Sean’s training plan of exercise and water therapy my husband’s arms and legs had gotten much stronger and he was able to walk longer, and he needed less assistance from either me or his rollator. After seeing the changes to my husband, I also signed up for personal training. Since I am my husband’s primary caregiver, I knew that I had to get “back in shape” to make sure that I was physically capable of caring for him and myself. After several months of working with Sean I have not only lost some weight, toned up many of my muscles but also gave me a regular mental outlet for my stress. Though it is great to see the results of our hard work I feel like we have gained much more. One of the things that impresses me most about Sean is the level of care he shows the both of us. He not only truly wants to see us achieve our goals, but he also is so excited about being able to help us get there. When he says it brings him great satisfaction being able to help older people maintain or improve their lives through physical activity it is something you truly can believe. He demonstrates this in all he does from keeping his fees affordable to finding ways to adapt and accommodate each person’s needs at that time. This former Military Vet, man of Christian faith, and devout family man is the perfect choice if you are needing a personal trainer that cares and pushes you to be the best you can...
