My daughter and I ordered coffee and couple sandwiches. I wasn't paying attention to total and didn't get a receipt so when they called my name to pick up only 1 sandwich it was an oops on both our accounts, no big deal. The girl ran back to get another sandwich going. My daughter and I stood at the counter not knowing what to do about paying for it since no one was up there then and sandwich would probably take a little bit. So we decided to sit down and wait for them to call name to pay for it. The owner came out and looked over at us and started walking to back and my daughter stood up trying to mouth pay now? But he was gone. Couple minutes later he brought the sandwich to us, put it down, and said "so are you just not going to pay for it?" I thought he was joking around as I stood up to follow to register explaining we were waiting for someone to pay to. He rang us up looking pretty irritated about it all. This was very hurtful. I get that some people try to score free food however they can but to act in assumption like that to customers is uncalled for. A better way to make sure its paid for is to call name like did with 1st one and say "I'll get you over here" at register. It ruined my daughters and I one day a week breakfast. I did talk to him on phone and he apologized and offered a free sandwich but I again, was never out for free food....
Read moreWho puts pork in a chicken salad sandwich and doesn't specifically list it on the menu? I've never ordered a chicken salad sandwich from anyone and had to ask whether or not there was any pork in it. I ordered to go and didn't discover until I got home, so couldn't even get it remade. This was my first time getting a food item from here and it's incredibly disappointing. Wasted my money.
Edited to reply to response: I would encourage you to take a look at your own menu. In store and online it says "Chicken Salad- House Made & Served on Focaccia or on a Bed of Spinach". I am going to choose to assume ignorance over you intentionally trying to gaslight a customer who unknowingly consumed something they cannot eat due to your poor description of the item and adding an ingredient that is not commonly included in that item.
Edited to add after communicating over email: Neither the online or in store menu showed it included bacon. They were willing to admit that the online version did not say there was bacon at least. They refunded my purchase of the sandwich. They have updated the in store and are updating the online menus. That being said, I still won't be returning after receiving the initial response to my review. It really put a bad taste...
Read moreAs a mainstay of Springfield, each Travellers House has its own unique aesthetic. The West Republic Road location has a warm, rustic atmosphere. The Venturella family has taken pains to accommodate a wide range of customers. There are high-top and normal tables with good outlet access for your laptop or tablet. There are sections of upholstered chairs for a comfortable social gathering or curling up to a good book. A more secluded area with a couch and chairs is also available. Just to cover all of the possible needs of a customer, there is also a conference room for you Bible study or company meeting.
The pastries are all made from scratch either on site or at their Boomer location. With expert knowledge of coffee and tea, you can't go wrong with any of their brewed drinks, but some are good and others are great! The lunch menu does not disappoint, offering quite a selection of options.
The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and courteous. Orders are completed promptly and with care. As a testament to their customer retention, they have quite a few regulars.
All-in-all, Travellers House is a solid option for about any type of coffee or tea related occasion. I cannot recommend them...
