I’ve been getting back into collecting Nintendo 3DS and 2DS again. I’ve been bored with my switch and have decided to go back down memory lane. I’ve been on eBay and Facebook marketplace looking for diffrent models and limited edition versions.
Obviously on eBay you can find incredible pricing but a few friends of mine have their own small businesses so I decided to say I’ll find and support a small business gaming store.
I knew it would potentially be a higher price but I’m pretty educated on the product so I’d be able to confirm for myself on what’s a good deal or not.
They had very “decent” inventory. Not a lot of product but for used handhelds that doesn’t surprise me. My main concern was their price markup. They were charging $50+ over market value.
Before any of that I’ll say this. I walked into the store and wasn’t even greeted. I was looking around and no one came to offer any assistance. Literally no one else in the store but me and 3 other employees. I asked for help and had some questions and the employee I asked literally looked so annoyed at me. It’s my first time here and this guy had no patience at all and it’s not like I’m looking at $50 games. I was looking at $150-$200 plus handhelds so I think at the very least I’d appreciate some conversation. I was sorting through all the product and was basically rushing because I felt like I was annoying this guy.
After looking around I found a 2DS XL that I was actually interested in that was marked for $220. Market value on this product is not even $200. I literally have one in my cart on eBay for $150 free shipping as we speak but I said to myself you know what if this guy would be willing to knock off $20 to make the price an even $200 I’d be willing to spend that $50 markup.
I asked him if the price was firm or if he’d be willing to knock the price down $20 and listen I know it’s his business and he has the right to do whatever he wants but when I tell you the look on this guys face when I asked was mind blowing to me.
I know it’s my first time there and all but from my perspective this is how it went. I came in eager to look around and no one helped me. When I went out of my way to ask for help the person who assisted me was not personable or even interested in me. I am very educated in the product and am willing to pay a higher premium to support a small business but obviously to some degree. When I attempted to have the conversation I’m immediately shutdown. It was Black Friday weekend and I figured maybe they’d have some sort of special and even if they didn’t it’s the holiday season. If they would’ve knocked that $20 off for me I would have 100% gone back and started only buying my handhelds from them even tho they mark it up. I love the idea of supporting a small business but I guess they prefer $20 over new customers.
If the owner is reading this I’ll understand if you don’t care. I’m sure you have plenty of regulars who spend good money so my money doesn’t matter to you but I’ll say this. As a business try not make people feel bad and unwanted for...

I'll start by saying that the store was very pleasing to the eye and the staff were very friendly in assistance. That being said, I visited the location with the sole intent to trade in an assortment of games and hardware. My games were not in perfect condition, but a small portion of them were rather rare or desired. All of those games contained their original cover art and manual, with an exception to one game that had a reprinted instruction booklet.
Despite the fact that those select games with just the disc alone can easily run upwards of 300$ if purchased online. Not to mention I also included a DreamCast console with all the required basic accessories, and additional (albeit significantly cheaper) games.
I calculated everything I had brought in with the expectation of receiving the minimal possible amount in return. In the end, I was astonished by their offer; to further elaborate, one of my games is a PS2 copy of Marvel Vs. Capcom 2, the disc alone can run upwards of 130-150$. Yet my total in store credit was drastically close to that price range.
The staffs reasonings were even more bizarre. I am aware of obvious facts that are present, such as wear and tear on some parts of the games or console. (i.e. manuals, cover art, partial scratches, etc.) Although that's justifiable to point out, the price ratio in return is rather barbaric. I understand collectors are a active part in game purchasing, but that doesn't exclude the fact people out there just want to purchase the game to play; regardless of condition, as long as the game can run and is playable. Furthermore, to say that "there isn't a active market for DreamCast consumers", as a reason to validate the lowball trade-in credit was quite ridiculous.
To end this review, I 100% believe that the store staff did not have any ill-intent when it came to the price outcome of all my games and accessories. Both over phone and in person, they were all very friendly. Any questioned I had were answered, and they were genuinely honest with the conditions of my belongings. However, I can't base an entire review around those factors, as my initial experience and outcome were exceptionally different.
If you are in the market for games (new and old), then this is the store to do your purchasing.

Read moreMy review used to be a 5 star but based on my recent experiences I’m lowering it to a 2 and probably won’t be visiting the store unless I need something retro quick.
I started going here for trade ins a lot 2 or 3 years ago because they offered good value and it is a nice store. However, my past few experiences haven’t been as good as my earlier ones.
One time I was told my ps3 games were basically worthless because they were scratched up despite the fact that they all work and one of the games was a game I bought at their shop and never played. Wasn’t too upset about it since it was my first bad experience and the games weren’t too valuable but it was a little annoying to be told working games don’t have any value especially when I bought one at your store.
Last time I went with a series s an extra controller and some switch games along with a ps3 and ps4 game. Was told they don’t take series s or the newer controllers for some reason I didn’t understand and was offered $40 for the games. They usually offer me more than GameStop but I kept my games and went to them since their offer was literally .50 cents less ($39.52) and they’d take my other stuff and not turn it away.
Anyway, I liked the store when I got decent cash/credit for trade ins but if they are going to offer me GameStop money or turn stuff away I can go to GameStop and be in and out faster with...
