The Hi-Pointe Theatre is a St. Louis treasure and one of the oldest continuously operating movie theaters west of the Mississippi, first opening its doors in 1922. Nestled in the charming Hi-Pointe/Clayton neighborhood, it feels like stepping back in time with its beautifully preserved architecture, classic single screen auditorium, and iconic neon marquee.

Now proudly owned and operated by Cinema St. Louis, the Hi-Pointe continues to be a cultural landmark and is the home of the St. Louis International Film Festival along with many other year round film events. Its state-of-the-art projection and sound blend seamlessly with the theatre’s historic character, offering the best of both worlds: timeless ambiance and modern quality.

Whether you’re a lifelong movie lover or simply looking for a unique night out, the Hi-Pointe keeps the magic of cinema alive and thriving in our community. It is a must visit destination for locals...

Came here for the first time and was treated poorly by two employees. I was the only black person in the theater and after waiting in the line for the concession stand the women taking orders obviously tired to serve the white people behind me as best she could before I spoke up. Asking “who’s next!” While struggling to look past me standing right in front of her. Then after begrudgingly taking my order, the older gentleman giving out the food and drinks did his very best not to look at me while giving me my drinks and popcorn. It was obvious they had a problem with me and seeing as they were friendly to everyone in front of me it was a little obvious what the difference was. If you are black and want to see a movie, go anywhere else, anywhere but the Hi Point. They don’t...

This is one of the best places in St. Louis to see a movie. The staff is friendly, and the theater is beautiful. They use real butter on their popcorn! Unlike any other theater I've been to, I don't feel like I'm getting gouged on concessions, and they've got a nice craft beer selection. I've never had a bad experience in the years I've been going here. If you're seeing something playing in the Backlot theater, there's comfy seating, but you might want to give yourself a little extra time, as it's a smaller theater. The film's are always interesting, even if they aren't always big releases. Make your next movie night at...

Nothing bad to say. Cool, old single screen theater located at the highest point in the city, hence the name. Normally, more independent, hipster films are played here. The theater reminds me of the theaters of my 90s upbringing with a gentle slope. Not quite as bad as some where a tall person in front of you kills your line of sight. Screen seems huge. Stag for sale at the lobby shop. Only annoying thing is that if you buy your tickets online you still have to have it printed at the box office.

Really cool family owned theater. They operate both the main auditorium and the smaller theater in the back lot. Great pictures throughout the theater of the family and the history of the building. The staff/owners and super welcoming and very nice. You can tell they take pride in their business. All around terrific experience. Will definitely check out the showings the next time I'm in town.
