This is a terrific little park for young baseball players and their families, with a basketball court and a playground for younger children. North of the baseball fields is a lovely small dense park with a walking trail just inside the perimeter with 2 1/4 laps measuring about a mile. If you like to walk during the day, but don't like the sunshine beating down on you in the summer, then you might want to check this little walking path out because most of it will be shaded by tall trees as you walk along the asphalt trail. Makes it nice for walking on hot sunny days. It's not loaded with a lot of wildlife but it's enough to make for a lovely walk with birds, squirrels, rabbits and plenty of beautiful trees and bushes.

Nice walking trail that is very shaded from the well-developed trees surrounding several baseball fields and some basketball courts. One of the baseball fields is very well-funded and laid out so that it was much nicer than anything I ever played on for youth sports over 20 years ago. Restrooms at the concession stand where open without a formal event going on which is good for the general public there playing ball with their kids but the cleaning list should involve the air vents which were raunchy and showed a long history of neglect based on the amount of grunge accumulated that you can see in the photo.

Escape to the forrest right across the street from Mall St. Matthews! I walked the nature trail behind the baseball diamonds and was amazed at how beautiful and natural the pathways are. Great for strollers, walkers, wheelchairs. A few inclines around the bridges, but overall it's an easy track to navigate. LOTS of benches to stop and rest or just enjoy the woods. There's even a tiny pond/wetland. I found nuts, berries, and many native medicinal plants. Great place for all ages and abilities to explore nature in the shade without driving half an hour out of the city.
