My birthday just passed on the 21st and I had a couples massage planned for that day to celebrate. The place is called Serene Retreat Spa in Stafford, Texas and I found it on Groupon and figured I'd give it a try. Unfortunately, My husband had to cancel at the last minute due to work. I asked my mom if she wanted to go and she did but would have to take my 3 year old sister as well. I looked on their page to see if they had a policy on children being present and they didn't so i didnt think anything of it. To be safe I called before my appointment just to make sure. I called a numerous amount of times and could never get anyone to answer. I decided to go a little early to fill out my paperwork with hopes I could inform them of the situation before my start time. I was then informed that they don't allow children in their therapy rooms. I completely understand that so I asked if it would be possible to reschedule. I also respectfully mentioned that I tried to call prior to my appointment to address this but no one answered or returned my call. They immediately got defensive, denying what I was telling them and asked for my number to see if I called. Sure enough my missed calls were right there on their call log. My mom ended up deciding she would just not participate and I decided to go through with mine because they wouldn't let me reschedule without paying an additional $45. The employee let me change in the room and came back knocking on the door saying she had the owner on the phone. I speak with the owner and she informs me that the only time I can schedule another appointment for is the time that has been wasted figuring out what to do and being on the phone with her which has now been around 20 minutes total. Even though I got there early to discuss my situation as to not interfere with my massage time. She very quickly added that nothing else would be accommodated. I say that's fine, just trying to get this over with since I'm already getting frustrated and this is not the relaxing time I was hoping for. I hand the phone back and waited for the lady to get off the phone (my time is still adding up.) When she comes into the room I inform her what the owner said, and she looked at me and said NO! I then asked her "No what?" She said she had just got off the phone with the owner and she did not say anything abot scheduling another appointment. Once again placing the blame on me as the customer even though at this point she was wasting both of our time. I did get a little upset at this point due to her once again questioning whether I called or not. I said "why would I lie about that?" She then told me she is not playing this game and told me to get off the table that my session was over.
Now she has called me a liar, argued with me almost my entire session time, and is now asking me to leave. As a final try I asked for her to call the owner again just for clarification and she has the nerve to tell me she never said I could schedule another appointment.
This was my first time at a massage place and I really had high hopes for my experience but it honestly makes me never want to try any of them again. To top it all off immediately after I left a review on their Facebook page they began bullying and harassing me for not giving them a good review. (They have since deleted everything and even blocked the reviews on their page.) It might not have been a good review but it was definitely a fair one. Also this place was trying to say I was putting my child (actually my sister, they got it wrong) off on them to make the employees watch her. Which I never did and never would have done. They were completely lying. My mother had left not even 5 minutes after arriving. NEVER asking anyone to watch her.
Please avoid this place and take your hard earned money somewhere else. What was supposed to be a relaxing situation turned more stressful than I can imagine. While I understand everyone has a bad day, this place had several opportunities to correct the bad customer service they were giving but instead it just...
Read moreI am a disable veteran and was referred to Serene Retreat Spa by my doctor at the Richmond VA Clinic. I recently received my second massage from Tonja. I am super anxious, nervous but when I first entered I felt pretty calm. The first massage was good, but I think I did not feel super comfortable. But by the second massage I could really trust Tonja to know what she is doing. She listened to me and focused on the areas that I needed most. The hour seemed like 10 minutes and when it was over I felt completely relaxed and ready for a nap. It was that refreshing. I benefited both physically and mentally from Tonja's magic hands. She is a friendly, interesting person and I firmly 100% recommend that you stop in or call to make an appointmnet. Even if you have never had a professional massage, there is nothing to be concerned about. I've had other massages in the past - but this was by far the very best and now I understand the true benefits of massage. I guess the other times I did not let myself just relax and be in the moment - let go and just...
Read moreI received a voucher from my dad on Mother's Day and I've been coming every two weeks since then. I love the feeling that I get when I walk into the building. It gives me a sense of peace. Tonja is the best!! She always makes sure that I'm comfortable before we start. Any area that I ask her to focus on she does with no problem. I had a knot on my left should when I first started coming and now it's gone and I can feel the difference.I feel so relaxed and rejuvenated every time I leave her. If you're looking for a place to receive and great massage at a great price, Serene Retreat Spa is where...
