If it had an observation deck above the trees , you would get a 360° view of the valley and mountain ranges on the Westside and Eastside , along with valley floor mountains like Massanutten mountain. Read moreWhen I look at nature reserve reviews, I ponder using two perspectives/lenses: one - is this stroller-approved? Two - is this Edward Abbey-approved? If you have ever read Desert Solitaire you'd know what I mean ;-). This park is Edward Abbey - approved. If you're looking to explore nature with wheels under you, this may not be the park for you. BUT, that being said, take a risk and you might see something wonderful from your own two feet (if you are able of course). Leave the kids at home if possible. "Maintenance" is a dirty-word to Abbey. The less maintenance, the more wild, the better the experience of escape. Enjoy Betsy Bell and may Staunton Parks and Recreation continue to forget about it.

I didn't know this park existed. Nice and quiet and extremely green. It was early afternoon when I showed up with a friend. We just wanted to sit and talk. An enclosed..I don't know what to call it but there was a fireplace and it was in function. I felt so outdoorsy, thought of camping. Some people showed up with their dogs which were very friendly.
