Ouch.

The fact that natural formations like this exist is delightful. I saw it marked as a "natural water slide", but I'll admit that I was incredulous. Walking down the stairs to the water run, however, really delivered! It's amazing how clearly the water has created something that, while one's experience will not be quite as friendly as descending a colorful plastic tube floating in a torus, it is very clearly a "water slide"! That being said, be careful. We visited two days in a row. On the first, it had been raining all day and even the locals were shaking their heads (while definitely watching eagerly to see if anyone was foolish enough to submit to the unusually high flow rate). The following day it was noticeably lower, slower, and safer, so I gave it a shot! It was painful, and witnesses will agree that even those who returned to the top for another round of punishment seemed to be wincing and flailing as they were tossed around during the descent, but I did go twice, and I'm very glad for the experience! No injuries were obtained - just some lingering soreness - and how can you pass up the *opportunity to ride a natural water slide!

*Not safe, be careful **My wife barely let me go and definitely passed up the...

This is a portion of a little creek where the water has carved a smooth little waterslide like feature into the rocks. You sit at the top of the "slide", scoot along on your bum for a bit and then the water takes you to down to the next little pool- and then you repeat that process once or twice- or three or four times if you want a little wilder ride. You can also find some pretty deep pools where there are deep open spaces underneath some of the larger rocks in the stream.

One of the most amazing things about this slide feature and the other falls is that they are just open and unregulated. There were no lifeguards or big boards listing rules and regulations. It was just a bunch of people sliding down rocks, taking their turns, and having a nice time in nature. It was great to see something this fun and enchanting that hasn't been ruined by bureaucracy...

Well…it’s simply a GR8 time!!…no doubt!! “̮

…[Voted in the Top 10 of “Natural Water Slides”]…and w/o doubt worth every minute!

    • I need to add to Jesse Ledbetter’s (good ones!) ‘tips’ . . . ( we used to go here, hehe օʍᏩ … like 40+ years ago & ride these water slides! … so ) - - - . . . my advise is simple : ﹡wear 2-pair of shorts over ur bathing suit yes clothes can (+ will possibly-ya-probably) get ripped-up from the rocks- so -this helps! ﹡wear a pair (of old) sneakers they will protect ur feet and, so, other than the obvious, like keep ur arms in/down

Easy, short walk down. The natural water slides were not as slidey as you might think, you have to push yourself down for the most part but there are some sections that naturally carry you down the slide. One thing not outlined in these reviews are the many wading pools and other small attractions around the water slide. There are plenty of natural pools that u can swim and wade around in. There is also a mini waterfall with a seat under it so you can sit in it, which is cool and a fun photo opportunity. There is also one small deep section, probably around 6-7 feet deep that you can jump into from a taller rock above. You must be very careful while wading and jumping in because the bottom is laden with big rocks, but overall the natural water slide and it’s surrounding natural water attractions are quite enjoyable.

Ohiopyle is a must visit place. Even in the winter it has so much beauty. We spent about two hours here exploring trails, visiting the cucumber falls, and the slides. It was amazing to see people in little kayak type boats on the really rough water. There are a bunch of places to park, shops and facilities. This visit was during the covid pandemic so nothing around was really open and all the bathroom facilities that are normally open were closed. The falls are only a 3 min drive from the slides and definitely a must see. The walk down to the slides is easy nice wooden stairs that lead down to the rocks. The stairs to the falls are a little tricky for little ones they are made out of large rocks and can be quite slippery.

We heard so much about the natural water slides and went here when we visited Ohiopyle. However, the ride down looked very bumpy and we saw people slipping and getting bruised, so we decided against going! Despite this, lots of people were having fun and going for a second ride. We went to a calmer part of the slides, and dipped our legs. There is parking available outside the slides but it is limited to about 20 cars. You'll have to climb down a few stairs and walk on a few rocks to get to the slides. It was pretty easy and doable! It is walkable from the Ohiopyle visitor centre. Happy sliding!
