I recently purchased 2 32GB DDR5-5600 SODIMMS for my new HP Envy 17t-da000 Series laptop. Price was very competitive, and the parts arrived before my new computer. Initially, the DIMMs did not appear to work, as the computer would not boot with both new DIMMS installed. MemoryStock customer service responded instantly to email, suggesting that I try the computer with one DIMM at a time. I did this, found a the apparently “broken” DIMM, and returned the other for a replacement. When the replacement came, the same thing happened. Starting to feel frustrated, I contacted customer service again. Another fast response, this time calmly suggesting a BIOS update, and, if that didn’t work, to return the DIMMs for a full refund. Lo, in the time that I had been waiting for DIMMS, HP had released a new BIOS update. With the computer on a single DIMM, I installed the update, and then the original two SODIMMs from MemoryStock, and the computer booted! It took a while for this first boot, as the new BIOS used an updated algorithm to tweak the parameters of the shared, high speed DIMM bus, but subsequent boots were very fast. I had initially ordered the wrong memory because I got mistaken on the board type. I realized of that by looking at the pinout when the memory came. Read moreThey had recommended the correct RAM from the beginning--I had issues with my new Lenovo A540-24API not registering one of the RAM memory slots.
Since it takes a lot of steps to get to the memory, I did not want to look for the solution that I thought it might ultimately be--not seated correctly.
The solution specialist helped me download software that determined that one slot was not recognizing the RAM chip. I took it apart and saw that I had not installed the RAM correctly in my haste.
