SEPHORA — Attraction in Stockton

As I was shopping for my color at the store, “Tee” who is apparently the manager at the store was walking by and she stopped dead in her tracks where I was and asked me if I needed any help. When the other girls ask if you need any help it’s professional but the way she asked me was as if she assumed I was stealing. I am black and Tee is black as well so idk if she just walks around assuming all black women are trying to steal. I told her no I’m just looking for my color. She kept asking me if I was sure I didn’t need any help with an attitude and was looking at me like she didn’t trust me. Then she went and got the Indian girl and told her and the Indian girl came up to telling me “we can send you home with samples if you want.” Excuse me!! I am here to BUY my shade of makeup and they are literally treating me like I’m some homeless person stealing talking about we can send you home with some “samples.” Tee as a black woman is so ignorant and prejudice. It’s so sad that every other woman in that store were polite and professional but Tee as the manager assumes that all black women are there stealing and they need to be “handled” by offering them some samples. We had the most amazing experience at Sephora for my daughter Maddie’s 10th birthday! She got a full birthday glam session with Nicole, and it was everything we hoped for and more.

Nicole was phenomenal—kind, gentle, and incredibly skilled. She made Maddie feel confident, explained every step of the process, and created the perfect age-appropriate glam look. Maddie looked and felt beautiful—you could see it in her smile. She hasn’t stopped talking about it since and has truly been glowing ever since.

The entire store felt welcoming and calm. Nothing felt rushed or awkward, which meant so much to us. Nicole made the day so special—it’s something we’ll both remember forever.

Maddie said it best: “That was honestly the best makeup I’ve ever had. I felt so confident, like I was glowing. Nicole was amazing!”

had a horrible experience with one of their employees. I was returning something per their policy which is amazing, it was from the brand Dr. Dennis Gross which is expensive and I had NOT used it, it was my second box but I was starting to breakout so I decided to return it the whole 30+ treatments available plus a few extra I had from my first box. While returning it the girl helping me was very amicable and helpful, the lady next to her I believe her name was Luz kept looking at me up and down and I really felt judged by her. Luz went to the back and through their communication system told the girl to count them. I informed the girl that I did not use them and there was even a few extra in there she was very nice and said “aww you didn’t have to.” This Luz employee made a patron feel judged, like I was “stealing” or “scamming” them. Instead of this employee talking directly to a customer she did a big scene making people feel horrible. Do better LUZ!
