This information centre is super educational and informative. They have staff who are knowledgeable and experts in the regions. The Creole Nature Trail is a huge space and have a number of routes on a road trip, so some planning would be suggested to plan ahead and to see what type of sightseeing spots and activities to do before heading out. These wonderful staff will be helpful in giving you suggestions on your road trip.
At the centre, there are a bunch of fun, interactive activation for kids and family to interact with. There are music instruments that are being played by local people in the region. You can play some of them and learn more about the sound each instrument exerts. There are some unique local foods and commonly used names/slangs that you can learn how to properly pronounced. For example, "Boudin", which is a famous rice sausage. You can also try on the hunting gear and pose as Duck Dynasty. You can try your luck learning how to use a chicken leg (fake) to catch crabs. Read moreThe inside and outside of the visitor center is amazing. The location makes it hard to find. The name is very misleading it is not a trail but rather a 40+ mile driving route. Will the information guy was informative but refused to stop talking to us. I was walking toward the bathroom door about a foot away and he is still talking about information I dont need. Had the title not been misleading I wouldnt have stopped bc I did not have time for a 40+ mile detour and I just wanted a hike to stretch my legs. Well we go to leave and Will insist on giving us these driving directions. He is taking forever explaining while I'm starting at the map so I can clearly see the route and so we turn around and walk out after many social ques and flat out telling him we dont have time. It was wayyyy more of a hassle than I'd go through. The town and route look cool but to...
Read moreWhat a great place to get information about the Creole Nature Trail and all over Southeast Louisiana. Sharon and Dillon were so knowledgeable about sites that aren't listed on the map. They gave recommendations about tours, restaurants and even food trucks along the way on the Creole Nature Trail.
The visitor center was informative to walk through and had a cool sound stage that lets you play along to Cajun or Zydeco music.
Thanks again to Sharon and Dillon for all their kindness and advice. It makes us want to come back to Louisiana to see all the things we won't have time to see...
