I was at the 5 below on Broad Street. I witnessed a customer having a bad day .She entered the store with her daughters already upset. She walked over to the shirt section against the wall and tampered with the shirts. The employee tried to assist her.She humiliated him by picking up the shirts unfolding them and throwing them down.She was very loud using profanity. As a customer traveling from out of town. I was so upset with the situation. My 5 year old was there taking in all those colorful words. The employee name was Chris. He tried so hard to maintain and desculate the situation. She continued to provoke him. I pray he keeps his job.Something should be in place to remove customers like that. It's only so much an employees can take. Good job trying to hold it together Chris. Read moreThis is overall a great store. I am suprised by the quality and assortment of many of their items, especially at the price. In particular th er y have a great selection of pet accessories, from clothes to toys and , again, all under $5. Also the staff there were all very friendly and helpful. They seemed to be easily found when their help was needed but never intrusive or irritating. The only reason I hav er it 4 instead of 5 stars is that corny Christmas music was blaring at what seemed to be full volume. That made it extremely difficult to communicate with who was there shopping with me and ultimately caused me to leave with only quickly looking over the merchandise in the very back of the store. There really isn't much to see here beyond a lot of candy, cheap Asian-made electronic accessories, Graphic print T-shirts (most of which were sold out), and a smattering of pet items, "collectibles" (overruns), some workout gear, and some housewares. Most of the merchandise and ear-splitting music is obviously geared toward adolescents.
As an old man who yells at clouds I didn't see a whole lot to get excited about. Most of the items they sell can be purchased for less at Dollar Tree or other "dollar" stores.
On the plus side the checkout area is a bunch of self-serve kiosks which allow minimal interaction with the store's skeleton crew staff.
