When I first moved to Sumter, the place was bustling with life—a vibrant hub of activity, full of energy and excitement. It seemed like there was always something happening, and the mall was at the center of it all. People flocked there for shopping, dining, and socializing, creating a lively atmosphere that was infectious.
However, over time, things have changed. The once-bustling mall now feels like a shadow of its former self. The crowds have dwindled, and the atmosphere has become subdued. It's as if the lifeblood of the place has slowly drained away, leaving behind a sense of emptiness and desolation.
Walking through the mall now, it's hard not to feel a tinge of sadness at the sight of shuttered stores and vacant spaces. What was once a thriving community hub now feels like a lonely relic of the past. The hustle and bustle have been replaced by an eerie quietness, punctuated only by the occasional footsteps of a lone shopper.
It's a stark reminder of the ever-changing nature of our towns and cities, where places that were once vibrant can fade into obscurity. As I reflect on the transformation of Sumter's mall, I can't help but wonder what the future holds for this once-popular...
Read moreWhen it comes to the mall I feel like we are losing it more than anything. Between the seemingly useless eye glass shops to half the stores going out of business, I no longer know what to make of it. The parking lot also needs a redo just about everywhere. I really miss the Victoria secrets and wish they would bring that back or maybe even Pink. The JCPennys is supposedly bankrupt but still has sky-high prices. Belks is one of the decent stores left in the mall, affordable with great sales. Though I constantly feel crowded in the store, I wish they would move the childerns clothing to another empty store and make Belks a bit bigger. The rest of the clothing stores, I feel, sell stuff I can't wear in public but more or less to a club. I don't want to purchase clothing when half of it is missing. The one place I will go to visit frequently is the Chick fil a and thats only because the other one is always packed. Overall we need some more stores to step in and set up shop. I'm tired of seeing stores come and go, I don't know if they just don't make enough money or what but it would be nice to have...
Read moreVery small mall but it's a nice way to spend a couple of hours. Small food court that includes Chik-fil-a and a couple of Asian food chains. Several dessert places, like Great American Cookie Company and Baskin Robbins (i think) Ice Cream. (It's definitely an ice creamery.) Bath & Body Works is great. Of course, I spent most of my time at Books-a-Million, a very nice BAM. There are tons of shoe stores at this mall...TONS! Not sure why mall felt the need to overpopulate with one too many shoe dealers. I guess there are lots of feet in Sumter and surrounding areas. Who knows?! The two times I visited the mall, (both visits were specifically, but not limited, to Books-A-Million) there were no crowds, although quite a few ppl in Bath & Body Works. If you're looking for a big mall with variety, then, no! You won't find a whole lot. However, a casual walk about will mildly entertain. It's perfect for the book lover or a clean freak that likes to smell like a cinnamon bon bon. And, if you need shoes...well, take your pick from several stores, as long as...
