Waffle House — Restaurant in Sumter

We walked in and were standing at the counter waiting to be seated. When a server just announced “ you can seat yourself anywhere that’s free and clean “. We sat down in the waiting area because every seat was dirty and there was no where to sit. Another server tried her best to make up for the server that rudely made the announcement. The rude server went on to give all of her attention to her grandfather that stopped by for a visit, at least that’s what a coworker let her know that her grandfather was waiting on her to take his order. And that her grandfather wanted his waffle “light”. I thought nothing of it until my order came out. I had a waffle that was pail and not golden brown or crispy. The eggs were definitely powdered and my hash browns were also cooked light with no crispness at all. I have teeth and was so upset that my food was under cooked because someone that works there’s toothless relative request his food to be prepared this way! I live in the North and look at Waffle House as being a delicacy. Now it’s somewhere I’ll probably not visit again because of bad service and lack of options. Waffle House has nothing for vegetarians or people with food restrictions or don’t eat pork. They cross contaminate everything because of them using the same utensils to cook everything on the...

The food was great. Cook was Awesome. He took our order and prepared our meals because the waitress did not. The waitress was horrible and made us feel like unwelcomed customers. She displayed dissatisfaction towards the cook, management, and other wait staff. 1st, she informed us that we would have to wait for the third shift to come on the clock before we could order our food, which led to the cook taking our order. 2nd, she told the cook to serve us our food in to go boxes. 3rd, she became upset when we received our food on dishware. 4th, she verbalize the worriation of being fired by her boss if she was not off the clock by 9:30 pm. 5th, she complained that 3rd shift would come in and get mad with her if they had to wash dishes from her shift. I'll start with I LOVE WAFFLE HOUSE! I came to this one while visiting a friend. Upon walking in there was no greetings or attempt to seat us even tho there were 4 open table that were dirty. It took 5 minutes before they cleaned off one for us to sit. The other 3 tables sat dirty the entire time we were there. I can understand if everyone is busy...not the case. The food was good as usual but in "my" WAFFLE HOUSE is always upbeat and friendly... Smiles and greetings when you walk in and a everyone's doing what needs to be done. I just feel like it really makes a difference to be personable to people who come in to spend money. I would turn the other direction to hit a different Waffle house if you want friendly service.
