Surf City Bait & Tackle — Attraction in Surf City

I’m a novice that needed some help with setting up my rod with a set up for what was biting. The main guy set up my rod and gave me some tips that helped me land my first striped bass of the beach that evening. Also sold me a set of Calcutta pliers that helped when I had to get the guy off the hook.

I know where I’m going next time for my fishing needs next I’m in LBI.

The only reason I’m editing this review down to a 4 is because the negative experience we had here a couple of weeks ago, the woman that works there refused to helped a friend of mine tie a rig to his line. He is a rank noob to fishing. She said “we don’t do that” which was a lie because the owner helped me when I was a beginner - thanks to the owner I learnt a couple of knots when he helper tied a rig for me. We were ready to buy a bunch of gear here but when the woman who was very rude we walked away.

I’ll always like this place because thanks to the owner I’ve become a somewhat adept surf fisherman but he needs to monitor the staff he hires because this woman was...

Nothing but love to the workers here. They do not judge you, do not treat you like a fool and are respectful of all skills and backgrounds.

I am mostly a fly fisherman, I been wanting to get into saltwater fly fishing, however been kind of lazy and cheap so went with a classic reel combo.

At here they hooked me up with great bait, gulp recommendations and true honesty and work within your price range. Also they are scuba divers and I love scuba diving because well, IT IS AWESOME! :)

The stickers are also really cute and awesome, I rarely can find saltwater theme fishing stickers everytime I buy so many LOL, I have tons of them on my car!

My only con is one of the workers is somewhat monotone but he is a nice guy, I can understand I struggle with that too and also can't blame him but he really has been so kind and nice!

One Arrogant Owner - GO ANYWHERE ELSE. ANYWHERE

Owner's son told our grandson about the crab contest, for us to bring any big crabs up to be entered for a prize.

Well, the 6 year old caught a 16 inch point to point crab, and excitedly brought it up. They were closed, so we took a photo and first this this morning he wanted to go up.

Owner now says the contest doesn't start for a few weeks.

No apology. No concern. No care, just one arrogant SOB.
