There are several reasons: price of parking/parking in general, safety issues, and issues with this company and how they operate.
First of all, they decided that to park in front of your $1,000+ a month home, you have a pay $75 a month. They did have the option of general surface parking for $25 (what it always has been for a year, $15 before that though), but they ran out of spaces so you are forced to eat that $75 a month. This is insanely greedy, and I will elaborate why.
Before I start this paragraph fully, I want to say this is none of the front workers faults or maintenance. This is all the owners and/or managers, they will know who is responsible. Anyways, the past 1 1/2 I lived here, we have had our stoves act weird, a random leak, and had to have our washer replaces and now waiting (on a waitlist) for a dryer. Are they going bankrupt? I’m not sure, because you are getting at least 4k from each townhouse and there are at least 100+ in total, plus parking from each resident which is an addition 100 per house until the 75 dollar parking. I don’t understand why getting a new couch (if the previous tenants destroyed it) or dryer is so hard for a company as large as this one. Surely, they should have a good sum of money, especially since you’re paying a grand for housing here.
There is no justification why they suddenly choose premium parking and make it that much more than standard, it’s clearly a money grab at their residents. Paying for parking in general is insane when you pay this price. Not to mention if your children have any friends at all, they likely will have to be picked up and driven there half the time due to lack of parking spots for guests. Guests have maybe 20 spots to choose from which get filled up. The residents rightfully have to camp the spots if they know friends or family are coming because no one wants to get towed.
Safety. The gates always open at this point. It’s ridiculous you pay so much for a gated community, and it can’t even stay gated. People have had their cars broken into here and their apartments too. They stopped notifying residents that they will come into apartments (with the exception of winter break they did send one out). The whole last semester they would just knock and walk in without any notice, which may be borderline illegal or it is just truly disrespectful. As a woman, it’s not fun to have crazy knocking in the middle of your day and not know who it is. Anyone could claim to be maintenance, it’s not like they wear branded shirts, and without notice they could have a huge issues with people lying to get inside. They also tend to leave lights on when you’re away on break, causing higher electricity bills and they sometimes forget to lock the door.
I still have roommates that haven’t gotten a gate code or mailbox key. It’s been 8 months. This says a lot about how bad this place is, especially since they promised they’d be getting it to them soon.
The office is always a mess with packages and people constantly lose their packages here. It’s not the front workers fault, in fact this company probably underpays every one of their employees. These kids have to deal with parents, other kids, and doing packages pretty much 24/7 because of course with this many townhouses and 18-22 year olds, people will be buying a ton of stuff from Amazon. The front office is nearly always overflown with packages.
The roommate match system they boast about DOESNT WORK PROPERLY! The app is broken and probably bankrupt. It worked for a little bit when I first moved here, but now it’s just a mess. So you’re most likely getting random roommates.
Also when they clean the rooms they aren’t really deep cleaned. This is a fact.
There’s more issues but that’s all I wanna write for now. I hope they choose to take back the ridiculous $75 parking so I can park infront...
Read moreSo for starters I enjoy living at UClub and everything has been fine and dandy up until today 12/4/2017. Now with that being said the 2 star review is because of this so called "emergency maintenance" that is non-existent. I called in around 5:50pm which the office is still supposed to be open, but I can understand leaving a little early every job does it, but what I can't tolerate is being told by your automated system to leave all this information and you will deliver my emergency request as soon as possible and then having waited patiently for about an hour on the steps of my apartment and receiving no kind of call, text, or response in general to my being locked out of a $769/per month apartment that is paid for on the 1st of every month on time with no hassle. It is now 6:50pm as I am writing this review and I have yet to still hear from this so called emergency maintenance as the temperature is now 66 degrees and dropping. Luckily one of my roommates got off of work early to come let me in. I'm not going to trash talk the property because it isn't trashy its a nice place to live even though the price is increasing again, but what I will say is if I can pay you $769/per month on time and you can cash my check on time then you should be able to provide the services you are claiming to offer on time. I would rather you tell me that you don't offer a service so when something like this happens I can have a back up plan instead of claiming to have a service and now i'm stuck outside in the cold because the service you claim to have sucks. What if all my roommates were out of town, am I supposed to sleep outside? So once I receive a call or text or something from "emergency maintenance" then my review will be updated and maybe even add a star depending on how long this response takes. Updated: Brad from emergency maintenance called at 7:09pm and informed me that the door has been reset so the key fob should now be working, however my key fob still has yet to work, but they will be coming tomorrow to get my key fob back online. However, I will only add a star because Brad was very kind and attempted to resolve the problem, the fact still remains that I now cannot leave my apartment until my key fob is fixed due to the risk of...
Read moreI have lived here for 3 years. Each year has been worse and worse. The facade they show you when you first move in wears off quite quickly. Yes, you're within walking distance to campus, but now, the negatives do not outweigh the positives. Rent is ridiculous. They charge like they're a new property but phase 1 is 6 years old. When I signed this third time, prices jumped up and they charged for parking. They never filled up and so they dramatically dropped prices (from $799 to $599). Guess who was denied the lower price!! ME and everyone who had already signed at $799.
But thats cool. how about amenities? I can't remember the last time the hot tubs worked. The few times I attempted to use their printers, they were out of ink. Gated community? Lol, no. At least one of the gates is always broken. Visitor parking is actually a nightmare and I have never seen a more tow-happy community.
My rent check has been lost more than once, and they try to charge me late fees. I now always get a receipt and pay it in person at the front desk. At one point I was trying to get a dog. When the pound called the complex, they lied and said they only allow pets up to 35lbs (are you kidding?) needless to say, I was denied the dog.
The most recent personal mishap has to do with pest control. I have been trying for 3 weeks (As of this review) to get them to treat my Unit for fleas. Finally, the day it was supposed to be done, I called to verify that it was completed, they said yes. That was a lie because my roommate never left the apartment that day and said no one came to the apartment. So we spent hours the day before getting the apartment ready for pest control (vacuuming and taking everything off the floor) for them to pretend to do the service.
While there are many more small things that annoy me about this complex, they add up. I am looking forward to move out in a few months.
To end on a relatively okay note, the front desk staff tries their best. They are quite friendly and do their best to handle the hot mess that is their management and management company. I want to at least give credit where credit is due. They are one of the few positives of Uclub. But don't be fooled. Sign...
