Someone Mentioned There's No History in the comments. Below is a brief history..
The was originally built in 1927 to pump water to Sulphur Springs Hotel and Spa Resort. Like many from this time period, it was believed the Sulpher Water could cure everything. The property also contained Sulphur Springs Apartments, Maves Arcade and an Alligator Farm.. They placed the Tower strategically in hopes of expanding the resort city.
A flood in September 1933, resulted in the collapse of Tampa Electrics Dam and caused extensive damage to the resort hotel, its surrounding property. It also bankrupted the original financer.
In the 1950's the property became a drive-in theater mentioned so much in these comments. Providing decades of memories for the local community. But much like the resort and Spa drive-ins slowly gave way to multi screen theaters.
There were many plans for the property that fell through. A development was proposed, and the local community put a halt to it. A large drug store was also slated and didn't come to be.

There was a gazebo built around it adorned with Greek sculpture featuring the 3 fates. You can go see it it's all fenced off. A old amusement park divided right down the middle by the interstate that people would travel by wagon to. Make sure you go to both sides. The side with the Tower and the side with the gazeebo. A amazing pool that no one uses with really old pictures of the amusement park still hanging for you to see. The beginning of Tampa long forgotten because it's a portal to hell a place of demonic worship since the 70s. No one goes here. Many unsolved drowning and suicides in the tower. Most of the homeless people even avoid it. A ghost...
Read morePretty bleak for a park. I guess the main experience is the tower, but no one expect vagrance lives in there. Expect no playground, water pad or even viewing experience of the tower. If you take the trail underneath the bridge (if open), it will lead you to a more quaint part of the Hillsborough river. A lot of homeless people fishing or using drugs in the race track parking lot, but that's life. With a little TLC and monitoring, this location could provide an awesome haven awat from the hustle and bustle...
